I Am Watching Lucifer On Netflix And Here Are 5 Reasons You Should Too

Choosing a new show to watch is a seriously risky business. You have to read about it and all the characters, watch the trailer, research reviews, look at how many seasons there are and how many episodes per season (if only there was a guide like to find new boyfriends. No wonder I make such blunders with that). Please tell me it isn’t just me who has such an elaborate method. The reason picking a good show to watch is so tough is that you don’t want to spend the few weeks of your life watching something with horribly boring content. See, now my elaborate method doesn’t seem so bad.

This lockdown has really changed what I am looking for in a good show. Now, I want something that I mindlessly flip through without using my brains at all. Which means no more shows like Handmaid’s Tale, Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder (if you have watched these shows, you aren’t doing this right).

Which is why, I have started watching a show called Lucifer (don’t worry, it’s not about creepy Satan worshipers). It’s the perfect lockdown show- it will keep you hooked on but not too hooked on, the storylines are promising, and the protagonist will make you squeal and gush like a 12-year-old girl. See, the ideal binge-watch!

Here are a few reasons you should watch Lucifer.

Lucifer Will Steal Your Heart

Everyone knows that the devil is supposed to be inherently charming but the portrayal of Lucifer in this show will make your ovaries explode. His very nature makes him irresistible to (almost) everyone and he can charm the pants off anyone (most of the time, literally). He is the ultimate playboy with a heart of gold and some serious daddy issues. He has power over people’s innermost desires but it’s his brazen confidence that will make you love him. All this put together makes him one of the most charismatic characters on screen, today. This is show is worth the watch just for its sexy titular character.

The Women Characters In The Show As Badasses

The show obviously revolves around Lucifer, but it’s filled with strong and gorgeous women. Starting from his love interest Detective Chloe Decker to his trusty demon sidekick Mazikeen, they are all more than capable of looking after themselves. Of course, who can forget Lucifer’s therapist Dr Linda Martin who grows to be Lucifer’s friend and confidante as the season’s progress.

This band of fierce women was what got me hooked onto the show. It was a refreshing change from the same boring and cliché female characters we are so used to watching.

The Premise Is Unique And Intriguing

The Devil leaves hell and comes to Los Angeles (city of angels, isn’t that ironic?) because he needs a vacation. He then meets detective Chloe and starts helping her solve murders all the while dealing with his own celestial family drama. Not to mention, throughout the show he struggles to get in touch with his human side and get rid of the evil reputation that the devil has. This show gives you a whole new perspective on hell, heaven, angels and even the devil.

Of course, the premise is not original as it’s based on a comic book from 1989. But you have to admit it’s unique and extremely intriguing. Also, the premise of this show makes it the perfect mindless binge and who doesn’t need that?

The Irony Of The Show Is Amazing

The whole show revolves around Lucifer using his gift to bring out people’s darkest desires to help solve murders. Yes, the Devil is living in the city of angels and solving murders. That right there is the biggest irony ever (well exaggeration, but you get my point)

When someone says it’s a show about the devil people normally assume some cliched plot about a man with a goat face and horns who tortures people and drinks their blood (Okay, this would not have been a good show). But, no one ever thinks about the devil helping the police department to solve crimes. It’s a huge irony and also part of why the plot is so fascinating.

Did I Mention The Devil’s Sexy British Accent?

Have you ever realized a British accent makes everything about a person like ten folds hotter? It’s maddening but the way Lucifer (and by that, I mean the actor Tom Ellis) talks will make you swoon. Lucifer hands down is one of the sexiest characters on-screen ever and the British accent is a major part of his charm. Also, Tom Ellis’s natural charisma but you get my point. Oh, and just when you think he can’t get any more delightful, he will surprise you with is piano skills and the singing skills.

All in all, you must watch the show, it’s extremely entertaining and the protagonist is crazy hot. Do you need another reason?
