Bandra’s New Lounge Bar Arrives Right Above Bastian!
Chef Kelvin Cheung’s special seafood restaurant, Bastian, has been quite a success. Whenever I’ve spotted the place, it’s always been packed! Being a vegetarian, I’ve never actually gone in but I’ve heard rave reviews about Bastian from just about everyone. But now, seafood isn’t the only reason to step into Bastian!
The next time you head there for some lip-smacking food, tilt your gaze upwards and you will be in for a surprise! Chefs Kelvin Cheung and Boo Kim are all set to welcome guests to their chic new lounge bar, The Drunken Clam, August 19 onward! This bar is located within Bastian, on the upper floor.
Get ready for a range of premium drinks, varying from beers on tap to champagne, wines, and cocktails. Bar Consultant Arijit Bose has conceptualised the bar menu. He has also created the beverage list for Chef Cheung’s One Street Over.
Jumpstart your evening with a round of drinks before moving on to the mains. The drinks here are unique reinterpretations of the classics. We’d recommend the Earl Grey Tea Punch, which consists of Captain Morgan rum mixed with gin, lime, sugar and spiced Earl Grey Tea. Another delicious concoction is the Polka Dot Bikini Martini. It includes Absolut vodka fused with fresh passion fruit syrup, vanilla syrup, apple juice and sparkling wine.
Both domestic and imported wines, whiskey and single malts, and other premium spirits like the Japanese Hakushu, will be available here. If that’s not enough, bar nibbles are also aplenty. Go for the Popcorn Shrimp, panko fried butterflied jumbo shrimp with popcorn powder and barbeque aioli. Vegetarians can opt for the hot Bagel Bites — jalapeño cheddar bagel bites with mozzarella, spicy marinara, basil and chilli flakes. I’d go for the Hot Potato, an over-loaded baked potato topped with sour cream, cheddar, parmesan, scallions and truffle oil.
If you want to host a private event here, The Drunken Clam also features a bar-within-a-bar. This space can accommodate up to 15 people. Looks like the folks behind this venture have thought of everything!
