Say “Ni Hao!” To JW Marriott’s Latest Fine Dining Spot!
Love Asian flavours? Can’t get enough of sushi and sashimi? Well then, prepare to fall in love with Dashanzi — JW Marriott’s new Asian restaurant and lounge. Having replaced the Spanish restaurant Arola, Dashanzi seems to be a promising new place offering up some bold new preparations in the form of modern Asian food.
Helmed by Chef Don Don and Chef Stanley, Dashanzi boasts of a private dining area, a lounge, a fine-dining area, a sushi bar, a drinks bar, a welcome wagon, and a separate lounge with stunning views of the sea. Tempted yet? I am! Now, before you hurry up and google what Dashanzi really means, let me help. Dashanzi is a chic art district in Beijing, China. True to the origins of its name, the restaurant’s interiors are tastefully decorated. Expect lots of modern lines and modern art. The place is also well-lit, thanks to the lovely Chinese lanterns.
The menu here consists of both Chinese and Japanese fare, with a modern twist. It has been specially curated by Chef Don Don and Chef Stanley, who come from the Philippines and Malaysia respectively. The most recommended dish here is the Bai Ling salad. Prepared using mushrooms, truffles, and asparagus, this salad has already become a favourite with the crowd. You can also find a variety of other delicious treats like Edamame and Truffles, Dynamite Spider, Veg Tempura and Chilean Sea Bass with Polenta Crust. For dessert, the most delicious item on the menu seems to be the Deconstructed Chocolate Affogato, which is a combination of chocolate, vanilla ice cream, caramel and (my favourite) coffee!
Did we also mention that this place hosts the largest Gin bar in the city? You can also find here Sake, Japanese Whiskey, Soju and a perfect old G&T. Ideal for a relaxed and scrumptious dinner, Dashanzi absolutely needs to be on your list of places to visit this week.
