9 Healthy Snacks To Satisfy Those Midnight Cravings

You are about to go to bed and suddenly your stomach growls! There are various reasons you could feel hungry after midnight – maybe you ate early or didn’t eat at all.

While eating late at night is not quite unhealthy for your waistline, still, you must make sure that you snack healthy. Before you go and pick up that box of cookies, just hold it right there!

If you’re planning to munch in the middle of the night, make sure you don’t consume too much fibre, caffeine, or fat. Don’t go to bed hungry, instead indulge in these healthy snacks so that you’re full of energy in the AM.

1. Strawberry Smoothie

A great protein shake, it will help boost digestion, thanks to the probiotics. It’s a three-ingredient recipe that will take less than five minutes to make. Just pop in some ice cubes and enjoy your refreshing healthy smoothie. Here’s the recipe to make a tall glass of strawberry smoothie.

2. Yogurt Parfait

Yogurt is a perfect snack for when you are working out or want to maintain your weight. You can even find low-fat options in the market. If you don’t want to have just a plain yogurt, make a healthy snack out of it by adding fruits of your choice. You can find the recipe here.

3. Popcorn

If you’re craving chips at the middle of the night, replace it with a pack of popcorn. A pack contains about 100 calories and is light on the stomach, as well. Make sure you avoid the butter, though!

4. Milk and Honey

It’s not exactly ‘food’ per say, but a glass of warm milk will help you sleep soundly at night. All you have to do is: mix 1 or 2 tablespoons of honey in a glass of warm milk and drink it half an hour before you go to bed. Sweet dreams…

5. Scrambled Eggs

Eggs are high in protein and make for a superb breakfast and snack alike. Whisk some egg whites (ditch the yolk to make it healthy) and add a bit of low-fat cheese if you want. Add some oregano, and voila, you’re all set.

6. Fruit and Nuts

This is a winning combination! Both fruit and nuts are known to be full of nutrients, and when you mix them both, it becomes a wonderful snack. Munch on a bowl of fruit and nuts when you feel hungry!

7. Hummus with Veggies

Hummus is full of protein, and veggies, as we all know, are good for health. It’s super easy to make hummus at home, so make sure you store some for your late-night snack. Here’s an easy recipe you can follow.

8. Baked Apple Oatmeal

Turn apples and oatmeal into an interesting combination by baking them together. Apart from being healthy, we swear it tastes amazing, too! You can find the recipe here.
