These Adorable Cards Are Perfect To Express How You Feel

By  |

While we are slowly coming back to reality from holiday mode, traces of the happy vibes are still there. Before we get crunched under heavy deadlines and responsibilities, take some time out to thank the people in your life, those who have stuck by you in the past year. 2016 was a hard year, and if it weren’t for those few people, we may have not survived. If you haven’t already, it is not too late to say sorry to that friend who you upset by not going to her party, not too late to say thanks to your parents for handling your mood swings, not too late to appreciate that colleague who takes up for you in front of the boss, and not too late to say ‘I love you’ to someone who matters. And the absolute best way to do that is (no, don’t buy something off the net) by making them a personalised gift. It doesn’t have to be fancy, something as simple as a greeting card could work as magic.

But this time, ditch the paper and pick up a matchbox. Shop3xu, a Vietnamese shop is transforming boring looking matchboxes into cute greeting cards. Actually, ‘cute’ is an understatement! These cards are so adorable that may just want to gobble them up. They sell their creations on Etsy and have an Instagram account that is flooded with super pretty things. Bookmarks are one of their fortes. Who would have ever thought a matchbox could be used like this!

Take inspiration from them and DIY one or a few 100 on your own. It’s so easy to make these greeting cards that you won’t be able to stop at one. You will have to find a solution to store all the matchsticks…or just wait, we may just come up with a DIY for them too!

The basic steps to remember while making any of these cards are:

  • Remove the matchsticks from the box.
  • Wrap your box with paper, preferably brown parcel paper. It just makes the craft stand out.
  • Choose any design you want and get drawing, or print them online and stick it on.
  • You can add glitter, some origami touches, thermocol balls, confetti, or just keep it simple. It really is all about your imagination and creativity here!

Scroll through these Instagram posts or watch the video above for ideas and, I dare you to not say ‘aww’! The card-making process isn’t difficult, but doing this might be.
