1. String Lights

Hang long string lights on one wall and give your room a fancy makeover. But that’s not all. You could also pin photos of memorable times spent with family and friends onto the lights and create a statement wall accent. Or better still, fill the lights into glass bottles or mason jars to make pretty lamps for all the corners in the room. So effortlessly classy!

2. Upside-down bin table

Granted you are not a morning person, but it’s best not to be late for those lectures in the AM, right? It makes sense to have an alarm close by, preferably on your bedside table. Don’t have one? Simply turn a plastic or metal trash bin upside down, spray paint it in a pretty colour, and there you have it — your very own fancy bedside table!

3. Taped Frames

After spending all my money on books and stationery (it’s is addictive, ok?), I had absolutely nothing left to buy frames for my dorm-room posters. Plus, those things can be freakishly expensive. Did that mean I would have blank walls staring down at me? No way! My answer to creating cute photo frames is washi tape. All you need to do is stick your pictures on the wall in the order you want and tape it all around in colourful washi tape. You can even try funky shapes. This will give your boring white walls a colourful twist and the best part is that it comes off easily too.

4. Potted Plants

Liven up your room with potted plants. You can also customise the pots with decorative paper or paint patterns. You don’t want to regret killing any of them, so if you’re not familiar with gardening, begin with money plants and cactus that are easier to tend to since they don’t need much attention.

5. Shoe Box Storage

Imagine the kind of mess you would have to deal with in a tiny space with a million clothes, shoes and accessories! Here is a quick and easy fix. The next time you buy a pair of shoes, save the box, mask it in your favorite wrapping paper or use fabric glue to cover it with colourful fabric. You can make multiple storage boxes this way and use them to store lingerie, accessories, and other knick-knacks. You can slide them under cupboards or shelves to free up lots of space.
