#HauteSpaces: Nappa Dori’s Elegant New Mumbai Store

Who doesn’t love a pretty home/work space? I know the answer to that one. So now, every week I will go in search of the most stunning indoor spaces in our country that will inspire the inner decorator in you. Unique, colourful, or quirky, these photo stories are sure to leave you spellbound, like mouth-hanging-open spellbound. If you know or use a space that fits the description, ping me and we can chat! It can be anything from a home to an office, a studio to a restaurant — if it is fun, I’m game.

Born in 2010, Gautam Sinha’s brainchild, Nappa Dori, has become one of the most well-known brands for leather bags and accessories in the country. It realises the potential of indigenous Indian handicrafts and how can be even better than what they currently are. An authentic Indian label, Nappa Dori is putting us on the global map, and how! With 3 stores in New Delhi, one in Gurgaon, and another one in Bangalore, the brand finally decided to open its doors in Mumbai last month.

Located right behind the Taj hotel in Colaba, the store gives you the exact same, old Bombay vibes. Bathed in brown and black, there’s an old-world charm that instantly attracts you to the space. Wooden floorings make the store look raw and seem to perfectly complement the brand’s classy, indigenous offerings. The interiors are kept simple, sophisticated, and clean, keeping any kind of clutter at bay. You can see hints of blue in the lamps and clocks, a refreshing change from the earthy browns. The products are kept on lighter brown shelves (ones that look like garden picnic tables). The 1,200-sq.ft. store has a mezzanine floor that will soon be converted into a seating space, where you can chill with a hot cuppa coffee and read indie magazines that are on sale.

The part of the store marked with ‘something is brewing’ is all set to sell some yummy beverages — welcome to Cafe Dori. Such a cute name, no? A separate section sells stationery and DIY goodies that we’re already crushing on. If you haven’t already, do plan a visit to Nappa Dori’s Mumbai store — we promise you’ll find yourself transported back to the era of the Queen and all her swag!
