Suniel Shetty Being Chill With Athiya Shetty Dating Is Such A Refreshing Change. Desi Parents, You Listening?

In my 23 years of existence, I have had my fair share of boyfriends. Two very serious and a few that came and left in what felt like the blink of an eye. None of them ever officially made it to dinner with my parents and for the most part, I am glad. As liberal as my parents are, they would’ve eaten those poor guys alive. Though I think it is time parents, especially fathers, understand that their “little girls” are going to date and actually accept that.

If my rant isn’t enough for them to get it, then I am hoping Suniel Shetty will prove to be a great example. In a recent interview, he said that he loves who both his children Athiya and Ahan are dating and that he has no problem with it. He said, “We (he and wife Mana Shetty) love the kids and the kids they are dating. Absolutely love them and I think more than profession, being happy in life is very important today because that is the space, I think that is missing. We were all happy, we grew up happy.”

Athiya Shetty is rumoured to be dating cricketer KL Rahul. Their relationship was confirmed when Rahul posted a picture on Instagram featuring them both at a telephone booth and captioned it “Hello, devi prasad…?” The caption was a clever reference to Suniel’s superhit movie, Hera Pheri. Ahan Shetty, on the other hand, has been in a relationship with Tania Shroff for many years now.

In the same interview, Suniel went on to emphasize the importance of moving with the times and how vital it has become to not only befriend one’s kids but also the people the kids are dating. He said “I love Ahan’s girlfriend and I love whom Athiya is seeing. I do not have a problem with that, Mana doesn’t have a problem with that, and they are happy… We are blessed that they are from brilliant families and so humble and fit into the family like gloves.”

I completely agree with what he is saying. It has become very important for parents to befriend their children and accept their partners wholeheartedly. Suniel Shetty really is making a benchmark in millennial parenting, it is adorable.
