Kangana Ranaut Supporting Priyanka Chopra Over The Jai Hind Tweet Backlash Shows That She’s The Only One With A Spine

There isn’t a single day we go without talking about Priyanka Chopra. And PeeCee is being talked about now, more than ever. Especially since the huge drama that was created when she got shouted at at a beauty event for putting out a tweet that apparently “encourages war.” Netizens were quick to take sides calling her high and mighty or that she’s Indian but celebrities were quiet. There was pin drop silence. No one supported her or said anything against her. And then, just when we thought it was quite sad that Bollywood wouldn’t support one of their own, Kangana Ranaut came through.

Kangana Ranaut said that despite the fact that Priyanka is a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, it couldn’t have been an easy choice for her- her love for her country and her work. Defending Priyanka Chopra on the same, Kangana told ETimes, “It’s not an easy choice to make… when you are stuck between your duty and your emotions, being a UNICEF goodwill ambassador sure you can’t limit your identity to one nation, but how many of us choose heart over mind every day?”

Priyanka Chopra had tweeted ‘Jai Hind’ post the Pulwama attack when tensions between the neighbours were high. This didn’t go down well with Pakistan’s Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari and many others who penned down open letters and even signed petitions to convince UNICEF to remove Priyanka Chopra from her position because she wasn’t really living up to the expectations of it.

For the people who are unaware, the whole drama started when Priyanka Chopra was at Beautycon 2019 and during a public interaction, a Pakistani girl named Ayesha Malik accused the actress of “encouraging nuclear war against Pakistan,” and called her a hypocrite. Priyanka Chopra was all calm and handled it with dignity. Priyanka Chopra said, “I have many friends from Pakistan and I am from India. War is not something I’m really fond of but I am patriotic, so I’m sorry if I hurt sentiments of people who do love me and have loved me. But I think that all of us have a sort of, a middle ground that we all have to walk. Just like you probably do as well. The way that you came to me right now… girl, don’t yell. We’re all here for love.”
