BTS won over Planet Earth by winning online reader’s poll for TIME’s Person of The Year. They even beat *the* Planet Earth by 0.12%. They even managed to outdo the president of South Korea – Moon Jae-In and the former First Lady – Michelle Obama!
BTS. Bangtan Boys. Beyond The Scene or even Behind the Scenes as people are likely to assume have become a global rage, a force to reckon with. They are cutting across language and age barriers and speaking to the youth. Their fans and there are many of them are called the ARMY and you can see why. Their power is phenomenal.
The boys are from South Korea. And their music now has a cult following.
Their lyrics speak to the youth. The issues they pick up have a universal appeal. It talks about the social problems that nobody wants to talk about. Like depression, unrequited love, stress, drugs, suicide, and more.
They are also in collaboration with UNICEF Korea and recently the leader of the group – Kim Namjoon – gave a speech at the UN for UNICEF in front of South Korea’s First Lady – Kim Jung-Sook.
And now they’ve been voted into an honour that will go down in time. They are no longer behind the scenes, they are up, close and central.
