Ben Stokes Casually Joked About Marlon Samuels. Samuels Replied With Distasteful Remarks, Dragging His Wife Into Them
We’ve all had one of those times when while we were making conversation in a group, and someone made a joke our expense, that had everyone laughing at us, while we look away with flushed cheeks and a burning desire to lash out at that someone. The speed at which our minds whirr in the hope of a savage comeback, it is all pretty overwhelming in the moment. But, as we let a moment or two pass, we realise that at the end of the day, it was just a joke and one that was probably funny too. You see, that patience is what tells you if a person can take a joke about themselves or not, and given that logic, we know that cricketer Marlon Samuels has miserably failed. While also managing to be sexist.
Making the headlines recently for being a bad sport (see what I did there) when it comes to being able to take a joke, the former West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels dropped some serious and distasteful comments on his rival Ben Stokes on Instagram, after he was mentioned by Stokes in a statement that was in good humor.
The England allrounder Ben Stokes, who has been made to coop up in a hotel room in Auckland and Dubai during the time of the pandemic, recently spoke about the demands of the quarantine culture and how travelling in times of covid-19 has not been all that easy. He said, “You get off the plane, get your bag, walk out and get told what hotel to go to. There’s no choice, it’s pot luck whether you get a good hotel or not. The government have chosen certain hotels to be the quarantine hotels.”

Continuing further he said, and that is where trouble came along, “I posted a few Instagram stories and some of the England boys were messaging me asking what it’s like and I was saying it wasn’t the most enjoyable thing you ever have to do, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I text my brother saying the same thing, and my brother asked: ‘You wouldn’t even do that to Marlon Samuels?’ I said ‘no, it’s that bad’ – that’s how tough it was.”

In a pair of expletive-laden messages, Samuels called Stokes a “b****”, followed by further disparaging remarks. Samuels' comments were widely condemned by users on social media.https://t.co/jfqDCeRjxp

That mere mention of Samuels, as Stokes talked about in a friendly banter that he wouldn’t wish the quarantine life even on him got the West Indies player so riled up, that he ended up dissing Ben Stokes, his wife, Shayne Warne and a few West Indies cricketers. Not to forget how it touched upon his innate sense of sexism.
To reiterate, his inappropriate rant included, “No white boy could diss me in the sports and no get back diss look at this b*tch still thinking about me give me 14 days with you wife turn har into Jamaican in 14 seconds mate none of yall knows me that simple means it’s my f***ing superior skin tone.” And for those who are still stunned at whether or not he spoke about Stoke lending him his wife for 14 days, yes he did, and yes that was way way over the line.
He continued, “Icc cricketing world ben b*tch stokes Shane b*tch warn and a few b*tch west Indians cricketers who sell out sextillion7thpower Ps nothing to f*ck with my army bigger and we richer.” Roping in people who had nothing to do with the statement, clearly Samuel’s anger got the better of him, and ended up making him the lesser man as he churned out such vile comments out on social media.
And so once again, a woman is made a pawn in a game. A wife isn’t on object that you lend to people. And she certainly shouldn’t be used as a way to give someone a fitting reply. Before this, we have seen that Anushka Sharma was blamed for Virat Kohli’s performance on field and by Sunil Gavaskar, no less. This kind of asshole-ry where wives and girlfriends are dragged into this is disgusting, objectionable and stupid and this needs to stop.
This is not acceptable.
