Anushka Sharma Writes A Heartfelt And Very Relatable Caption On Her Latest Instagram Post. Yes, We Are Very Privileged

Never in a million years would I have imagined being in lockdown because a deadly virus had taken over the world. It all sounds fictional. Or at least it did. Thousands of people infected with this highly contagious disease that has spared no one. It almost feels like the plot of a superhero movie, a really good one.

But, this is no movie. This is our reality and as scary as it might be, we just need to stay inside and stay safe. We have been under lockdown for a week and I can safely that it is one of the worst things that could’ve happened (okay, there are worse things, but you get my point). I am bored to a point I just can’t seem to focus on things. However, that doesn’t mean that this lockdown hasn’t taught me a few valuable lessons.

I have learned to value the smaller joys of life and that sometimes all you have to do is just stop and smell the flowers. Yes, this sounds like a bunch of Eat, Pray Love BS but it’s true. This lockdown has given us all the chance to just sit down with our families and do simple things like playing a game of cards. That is awesome because when do we just get to stop otherwise?

As it turns out, I am not the only one who is learning a few lessons during this quarantine period. Anushka Sharma seems to be soaking it all in and reflecting on what is truly important in life. She took to Instagram to post an adorable picture with her husband and star cricketer Virat Kohli and their pet dog Dude. But what really melted my heart was the long caption that she wrote along with that picture.

The caption read, “Every dark cloud had a silver lining. And this time, while it may seem like the worst time and in so many ways it actually is, has also forcefully made us all stop and deal with things we might have been running away from because either we were ‘busy’ or it was convenient to say we were ‘busy’. If this time is respected for what it is, it will enable more light to shine through. This time has also made us all realise what’s truly important. For me just having food, water and a roof over my head and the good health of my family seems MOST important. Everything else is a bonus that I bow my head in gratitude for. But that which we call ‘basic’ is not so basic for everyone after looking at all the people who struggle for just those few things. My prayers with them and their families. May everyone be safe and secure.”

She further added, “This time has surely made me more reflective. This need to stay at home with your loved ones has been forced upon the entire world but there is a deep lesson for us all. There is a lesson to strive for work and life balance (I’ve valued and strived for this dearly for many years now), there is a lesson to devote more time in things that actually matter. Today, when I’m surrounded by all the blessings in my life, I just want to tell everyone how much compassion I feel for everyone who I see suffer. I want to help as many possible in the best of my abilities. I feel pride in our resilience to be better human beings. I can instinctively feel this in and around me. We will all have our individual and subjective lessons from this time and hopefully, such lessons will continuously stay with us all.”

In these times, when finding the positives or the silver lining eludes you, maybe we should take a moment to realise how entirely lucky we are. Usually, everyone is so wound up in their own lives that no one actually thinks about the fact there are people out there who are suffering and they deserve our help and our empathy. And she is right, everyone will inevitably learn a lot of lessons from this lockdown and though those might vary from person to person, but those lessons will stay with us for a long time. And more importantly, we should be thankful we are able to, like her, have a roof over head, water and food. And we should do everything in our capacity to help anyone who isn’t as lucky as us.

This heartfelt note by Anushka has really helped put a lot of things in perspective. Let’s all of us just take this time to reflect, prioritize and try and improve ourselves. There could not be a better way to utilize this time we have been given.

Anushka, keep spreading positivity!
