“Stop This Right Now.” Anushka Sharma Calls Out Photographer For Invading Her Privacy. We’re Glad She Did

I love keeping up with our Bollywood celebrities just as much as the next person. Their extravagant lives are always extremely intriguing. We live vicariously through their social media feeds, especially when it comes to their lavish vacations. But here’s my question, and listen up cause it’s an important one. Despite all the fame and fortune, why is privacy the one luxury they can’t afford? Don’t they deserve to keep their private lives, private and feel safe in their homes? Well, clearly a lot of people don’t know the correct answer to these questions because Anushka Sharma just posted a strongly-worded message on Instagram saying that a photographer belonging to a certain publication was clicking pictures of her and her husband Virat Kohli while they were having a conversation on their balcony. This pap culture is turning ugly.

Anushka Sharma, who is eight months pregnant with her first child, shared a paparazzi photo of herself and Virat Kohli. In the photo, they can be seen sitting on their balcony. Anushka called out the photographer and the publication he belongs to for invading their privacy. She said that the photographer continued to take pictures of them despite being asked not to.

She wrote on the Instagram story, “Despite requesting the said photographer and the publication, they still continue to invade our privacy. Guys! Stop this right now!”

This is really shameful. Paps need to know where to draw the line when it comes to getting their money shot. This is not a by-hook-or-by-crook situation. Zooming into someone’s home to get photos of them is crossing the line. Yes, celebrities lead a life in the public eye but that doesn’t mean paps can invade and disregard their privacy to such an extent. Surprisingly, Anushka Sharma is one of the few Indian celebrities to openly call out this nasty pap culture, and we’re glad she’s done it.

Just a few weeks ago, Anushka told Vogue India that this lockdown had allowed her and Virat to keep the pregnancy under wraps. For them, the lockdown was a “weird blessing”. She said, “In a way, the pandemic has been a weird blessing. Virat was around and I could keep it a secret. We would only leave the house to go to the doctor’s clinic. No one was on the streets so we couldn’t be spotted.”

The irony is not lost on us.
