It’s the season of debuts in Bollywood. Star kids, star nieces, star people are making their debut and good or not, they are making their first appearances on screen. Last year, we have had few promising debutants and looks like this year might be the same. The Dhadak actor Ishaan Khattar who is currently making headlines for his acting chops and goofy antics is now finalized for Bharat director Ali Abaas Zafar’s first production. But the makers were on the look out for the an actress to star opposite Ishaan for quite some time now. Looks like the makers have found their leading lady in SOTY 2 actress Ananya Panday.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Ali Abaas Zafar wanted a young A-list actress opposite Ishaan and therefore finalised Ananya for the role. The romantic film is set in Mumbai and will go on floors by the year end. “Since the Maximum City-centric film is a fresh take on the romantic genre and revolves around young people, Ali was keen to cast actors who are a big draw with youngsters. Both Ishaan and Ananya have impressed with their first films but have not worked together so it’s a new jodi as well,” said by a source in the know.

The Ali Abaas Zafar directorial with Ananya will be Ishaan’s first film after his successful debut film Dhadak. It has been in news that the Beyond The Clouds actor was offered a number of films but he is being picky when it comes to signing new projects. Recently, it was rumoured that Ishaan opted out from the most awaited film, Dostana 2, which also stars his rumoured girlfriend, Janhvi Kapoor. The actor was also supposed to star in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Hindi adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel Midnight’s Children but he left the movie due to creative differences. Buzz has it that the director will now sign a newcomer for the role.

There are also rumours that Ishaan Khattar has been approached by Kedarnath director Abhishek Kapoor for his next film on Pulwama attacks. The charming actor has multiple film offers already and might sign another film opposite his brother Shahid Kapoor in Ram Madhvani’s next. The film is an action-drama and revolves around two brothers and if their offscreen chemistry is anything to go by, it should be plenty of fun.

Meanwhile, Ananya Panday is currently busy shooting for her second film, Pati Patni Aur Woh and her schedule has taken her to the city of Lucknow. The film also stars Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pednekar as leads. Helmed by Mudassar Aziz, the film is the remake of the 1978 classic of the same name starring Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta Kaur.

What are your thoughts on the duo?!
