An FIR Was Filed Against Gauahar Khan For Stepping Out Despite Testing Positive For COVID 19
Last year, exactly around this time, the coronavirus was just gaining momentum. We were so blissfully unaware of the grave impact this pandemic was going to have on our lives. Everyone was running helter-skelter trying to figure out how to live during a pandemic. Back then, it was understandable to make mistakes because we didn’t know any better. However, a year into the pandemic we have all picked up a few tricks to ensure our safety. Masks and sanitisers a must, crowded spaces are a no-no and the biggest rule of all- don’t leave your house if you feel even the slightest under the weather or have any of the symptoms. How difficult is that to understand and follow? As it turns out, for some people, very. You see, recently there were reports of model and actor Gauahar Khan stepping out for a shoot despite having tested positive for the coronavirus. It’s been a year, how can you not know the protocols by now?
On Monday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) filed an FIR against Gauahar Khan for flouting COVID 19 protocols. Officials said that despite testing positive for the virus, Gauhar stepped out for a movie shoot. However, in her defence, her team has said that she only stepped out after testing negative in numerous reports. Assistant municipal commissioner of K-west ward Vishwas Mote said, “Our staff had visited Khan’s home on March 11 and she gave an undertaking that she would not step outside the house. However, despite this, we received complaints that she was moving around putting her and others’ life in danger.” He added, “Our staff reached her house on Sunday night and we were informed that is not at home and in an adjacent wing. We decided to file a police complaint accordingly.”

Gauahar’s close contacts and the people she has recently come in contact with have also ben asked to quarantine themselves. She has now been asked to move into an institutional quarantine facility.
However, this is only one side of the story.Her team says that she has already tested negative. Correct me if I am wrong but aren’t people who’ve tested positive supposed to quarantine themselves for a minimum of 14 days? Anyway, there is a lot of speculation so we aren’t sure whether to believe the BMC or Gauahar’s team.
In a statement, her team said that Gauahar is, “a law-abiding citizen and complying with all the norms of BMC.” They said that she has tested negative numerous times. The statement also asked all media houses to not, “indulge in speculation and respect Gauahar’s emotionally lowest low time as she’s just lost her father 10 days ago and she’s going through everything that is expected from her by the BMC.” Further, the statement read, “So with folded hands, we want Gauahar’s time to her self, respectfully and let her heart heal in this mourning time.”
We can understand how this is a low time for Gauahar considering she just lost her father but just the thought of someone who is COVID positive roaming about is terrifying. We have to very, very careful. Even though the vaccines are here, it doesn’t seem like the coronavirus is going anywhere anytime soon. So, celebrity or not, let’s just follow the protocols strictly!
