Amitabh Bachchan Says Both Abhishek And Shweta Nanda Will Inherit Equally From His Will. That Is Exactly How It Should Be!

At this moment, if someone were to ask me what I’d leave behind in my will to my family or friends, I’d have all of 5 things that would even be worth giving away. But even then, whatever I might leave behind, wouldn’t be just to be to one person alone. The semi-valuable scraps of my life would fall in the equal custody of the next of my kin, without any discrimination. Of course I don’t have a next of kin right now, but we are actually hoping my dog will have babies soon. So that is that. Point being, there shouldn’t be any discrimination when it comes to inheritance. Especially between a son and a daughter. Or sons or daughters, as the case may be. This isn’t a thought that only I believe in, but one that is supported byAmitabh Bachchan as well, who recently shared information regarding his will with us. And no, you’re not on it.

In a recent interview, Amitabh Bachchan talked about how he means to leave behind whatever he has, equally divided between his two children – Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Nanda. A notion, that majority of Indians are not in line with, for there are still many who believe that the estate of the parents after their demise must only be inherited by their son(s). Because of all that daughters are ‘paraya dhan’ rubbish. Except, Amitabh Bachchan certainly doesn’t subscribe to that school of thought, and thank god for that. And that is exactly how it needs to be.

Of course, there was a time when the daughters weren’t liable to claim even a single penny of their parents will and everything would just go to the son of the family but over years, this rule too has changed, as has the world we live in. Earlier, the Hindu Succession Act, 1956 ruled that once a daughter was married, she no longer has any claim on her father’s property. However, in 2005, this law was changed and now daughters have as much right on the father’s property as the son.

Amitabh Bachchan, who often can be seen and heard singing praises of her daughter on social media and national television explicitly said that Abhishek alone will not have the full authority to his property. We hope for this to become an example to all the others who think otherwise. Big B, who had already won the title for #fathergoals back when he was caught making a video of his daughter Shweta walking the ramp, has once again proven how daughters will always be the apple of their fathers’ eyes.
