Aamna Sharif Replaces Hina Khan As Komolika In Kasautii Zindagii Kay. This Is The First Time She Will Be Playing A Grey Character

I have grown up crushing on Aamna Sharif (seriously, the woman just doesn’t age!), ever since she starred in Kahiin To Hoga. While I don’t get the opportunity to watch a lot of television at the moment, because when I reach home, my parents are always glued to the TV, watching things that kinda don’t interest me. But my childhood was a different story. This was a time there was only one TV in the house and everyone had to religiously watch all the prime time shows, every single day. The romantic drama, Kahiin To Hoga, premiered 16 years ago, and we still remember it fondly – our generation is clearly big on nostalgia. So when we got to know that Aamna Sharif will be stepping in as Komolika in Kasautii Zindagii Kay (another show we used to follow with dedication), we got excited AF.

The character itself is iconic, and Urvashi Dholakia, who essayed the role is remembered for it, even today. So when Hina Khan opted out of the show, everybody was eager to know who will be stepping in. But what makes this more special is the fact that Aamna is making a comeback after a hiatus of six long years. She was last seen in Life OK’s Ek Thhi Naayka.

Of course, we missed her on the silver screen. She seemed perfect for love stories, but that’s not what she wants to do. “The reason for the break was the need to reinvent my personal life. It would have been easy to stay in my comfort zone and come back with a love story, but that wouldn’t have satiated me as an actor. It’s always a different kind of rush to surprise your audience. So, when I was offered the role of Komolika, I instinctively knew that this is what will challenge me the most as an actor,” revealed Aamna.

Hina Khan, meanwhile is moving to greener pastures and Ekta Kapoor is all supportive of her. She, in fact, had tweeted saying she will miss Hina as Komolika, to which Hina responded saying, “Only positive, content and happy people like you can see positivity and feel Happy about other people’s growth and successes. When an actor leaves a character and tries to make their dreams come true.”

I have a feeling that Aamna Sharif’s popularity can raise the TRPs of the show, so it’s definitely a good move to get her on board. But honestly, we’ve always seen Aamna playing the good cop and I just can’t imagine how she would pull off Komolika. However, we know she is a good actress and this is a great opportunity for her to show her versatility.
