A Pizza Delivery Guy Tested Positive For Coronavirus. We Recommend That Like Us, You Should Also Be Indulging In Ghar Ka Khaana

You’ve heard it. I’ve heard  it. We’ve all heard this being thrown at us, at least once in this lifetime. No, it’s not an iconic dialogue from a movie. It is the “as long as you’re living under my roof, you have to abide by my rules” that parents throw about. Making sure we understand it loud and clear, by giving us enough instances of the kind of hell that would break loose if we don’t, at this point in life we know better than to rebel against them as long as we’re living in their house. And while there used to be a time, when this kind of a monarchy would drive me over the edge, over the past couple of years I have realised that most of the times, their advice has only ever been in my favour and kept me out of trouble.

As I was able to reconfirm just about now when the news about a pizza delivery guy in Delhi, being detected with Coronavirus came to light. And I was torn between wanting to tell my parents and not telling them because that would mean that they would forever use this against me.  Turns out, even in the middle of this pandemic where we have been struck with a kind of a virus whose only cure is to maintain a social distance, people are still ordering food.

Now, I know – maybe not everyone has access to a kitchen – people can’t make their own food etc etc. There are plenty of reasons that people are ordering food. And honestly, till now, I was looking at them with envy. Yahaan pe, we’ve been going full zor se on ghar ka khaana.

A few restaurants and shops still manage to run their operations and make home deliveries possible, even though it seems like a saving grace in such troubled times, it might actually be dangerous.. The pizza delivery guy who was found to be delivering in the Malviya Nagar region on South Delhi, had apparently delivered to more than 72 houses in the premise, all of which have now been sealed and quarantined.

Is it the lack of fear of Covid-19, or the uncontrollable urge to snack  on junk food, we know not of, but clearly cannot relate to. It isn’t like we haven’t been dealing with pangs of hunger that would only ever want to be satiated with outside food, but knowing how it may come at the hands of a person who is risking their life and that’s bad but also yours. Because let’s face it, in such bleak and ambiguous times, can you really afford to take that risk? Unless it’s absolutely necessary and cannot be worked around, perhaps we should all stick to eating at home and eating home food.

At a time when even the ever essential grocery runs are being looked upon as a carefully planned task, with masks, gloves and santizers on the go, to even consider eating food from outside is as alien a concept to us now, as is physical interaction. Yes, it helps those of us quarantined with our families and at with our mother’s impeccable cooking skills at our disposal,  but even for the ones in a lockdown all by  themselves, guess it’s time to consider taking matters into your own hands and quite literally so!
