A Man From Bengal Married The Woman He Rescued From Abusive Relatives Years Ago. This Is So Heart Warming

Having seen enough failed and a few successful relationships over the course of 25 years, along with bearing witness to the love that my parents or my friends have shared with their partners, I have come to one conclusion and that is that all fairytales don’t have castles and princes and princesses to run the show. Some have hardships, trauma, real life monsters and in the end, what can be called somewhat of a happily ever after. Or so we hope, at least for the couple that has recently tied the knot in Kolkata, where the groom has married the girl he saved from abusive relatives years ago.

Almost 7 years ago in the village of Kultali, Suvankar Mondal had saved a 13 year old teenager from a horrible fate, by rescuing her from her grand father who was guilty of sexually assaulting and raping the little girl. Living in the same village as Mondal, the girl had a troubled childhood ever since her mother passed away and her father fled soon after that. Forced to live with her grandfather and her maternal uncles, she was subjected to quite a few horrors.

Mondal, who lived in the same village as her was the only one she could find to confide in.  She told him of all the atrocities she was put through every day. It was him who filed a complaint in the police against the grandfather and put him behind bars. However, upon hearing the news, the girl’s maternal aunts flew down to reprimand her for going to the police. These were the same aunts who had an intention of dragging the girl with her to Delhi, to sell her off to a flesh racket they allegedly had links with.

Call it sheer good luck or just fate, but as they were taking her away, Mondal heard her screams and came running. He managed to follow their car in a taxi and also called the police during the chase to fill them in. With the help of police and Mondal, the girl was rescued and finally sent to a home in Sonarpur. The girl had passed her Madhyamik examination from the home. She would often express her gratitude to the boy who saved her life, and truly Mondal was the one who turned her life around.

And now, after all these years the two have found their way back to each other and have tied the knot as a happy couple. Since being rescued, the girl was put up in a home and over time, she expressed her desire to be integrated into mainstream society. Perhaps, every cloud does have a silver lining, for even after such a troubled childhood and traumatic experience, the two had each other to lean on, and now start a new life with. This is absolutely heartening!
