7 Songs To Listen To On Loop After Your Breakup. These Will Inspire You To Move On

The thing about breakups is that the act itself is easy (sort of), it is the feelings that follow that will leave you feeling hollow- if you let it! In my 22 years of existence, I have only ever been in two relationships and therefore, went through two breakups. They left me with a constant sickening, nauseous feeling at the pit of my stomach. After my latest break up, I was so bogged down I didn’t leave the house for two days. I would sit around sulking and listening to “Doorie sahi jaaye naa.” (Can’t stand the distance) on repeat. Yeah, I am super dramatic like that. On the third day, I realised it wasn’t helping me, so I put on a few really peppy breakup songs that made me want to move on! (Yes, I see the irony of that too) My point is, if you are going through something similar right now, I feel you. But switch up that sad Adele song for any one of the songs below. They will leave you feeling motivated and fresher within moments!

  1. Happier- Marshmello ft. Bastille

There are very few things in the world that can put a positive spin on a breakup, this song is one of them. It starts with, “Lately I’ve been thinking, I want you to be happier.” Sooner or later there comes a phase of your break up where you forgive your ex-partner and just want them to be happy, this is the perfect song to listen to then or even dedicate to them as a symbol of closure. This song will give you the strength to let go and understand that you just want to see them happy!

2.The Breakup Song- Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

This song from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is one of the peppiest breakup songs that Bollywood has ever churned up. It is such a refreshing change from songs like Tadap Tadap Ke because this song reminds you why it is important to break off from a potentially toxic relationship. I’m sure you have heard it already, but this time really listen to the lyrics maybe groove to the beats a little too. You will instantly feel better!

3.New Rules- Dua Lipa

There comes a phase in your break up period where your ex pops back into your life and you are obviously tempted to go back. You need to listen to this song if you are in that phase since Dua Lipa is sharing her rules on how to deal with that correctly. “One, don’t pick the phones he is only calling cause he is drunk and alone. Two: Don’t let him in You’ll have to kick him out again. Three: Don’t be his friend, You know you’re gonna wake up in his bed in the morning. And if you’re under him, you ain’t gettin’ over him.” Listen to this song on repeat and follow these rules, you will move on in no time. It might sound corny but make these rules are your mantra!

4.Stronger- Kelly Clarkson

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” After listening to this song, stronger you will be. This song is all about bouncing back  after you’ve been through a rough break up. Kelly is singing about everything you’d ever want to tell your ex. Just because he left doesn’t mean you are broken and lonely, it just means you will now stand a little taller! Check it out.

5.Love you Zindagi- Dear Zindagi

Bollywood comes out with a lot of motivational songs but Love you Zindagi is by far the most inspiring song there can ever be. Jo dil se lage use keh do hi, hi, hi jo dil na lage use keh do bye, bye, bye.” (Say hi to what your heart wants, say bye to what it doesn’t) In a super catchy tune, the song says that if you love your life, it will love you right back. So, forget about all your worries and just learn to love yourself because girl, you don’t need anyone else!

6.Thank you, next- Arianna Grande

A breakup stings, that is universal knowledge. But what most people do not realise is that your ex taught you a very valuable lesson that will help you in your next relationship. That is exactly what Arianna Grande is singing about. “One taught me love, One taught me patience, And one taught me pain, Now, I’m so amazing I’ve loved and I’ve lost, But that’s not what I see!” This song will help you burst out of your sadness and get back out there, and that’s what it is all about.

7.Move On- Tanu Weds Manu

You are probably wondering, why this song is on the list. I will tell you why, it is here since it is one of the very few Bollywood songs that tell you that the end of a relationship is not the end of life. It just means one chapter of your life is over, the whole book is still waiting to be written. Be a boss lady, move on, get to work and don’t give up!
