5 Bollywood Movies About Friendship You Should Binge-Watch With Your BFFs

Let’s admit, we are all filmy people. We are a country that relates very hard to movies. We’ve grown up watching rom-coms, wishing for ourselves love stories that live up to the reel life. But while, romance shown in movies is often flawed and unreal, it is the BFF movies that show friendship exactly how it is. How many of us have picked which character we are from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani? Well, my best friend thinks she is more like Kalki, because she is more fun like that. Me, Deepika because I am shy and reserved. We pick characters from the iconic show, Friends too, because why not? But the fact is, and we are really thankful, that there are some Bollywood movies that have depicted friendship in such a realistic and beautiful manner! How can you not relate?

We say, Friendship Day is around the corner, so gather your BFFs and binge-watch these Bollywood movies about friendship.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

While some may say that the movie is about Kabir and Naina’s love story, I don’t think that is an all-inclusive idea. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is a movie about friendship and self-discovery, as much as it is about love. Naina (Deepika Padukone) and Aditi (Kalki Koechlin), who went to school together, become friends on a trip to the mountains, the one Naina decides to go to quite spontaneously. They go on to become best friends, even though they are nothing like each other. And eight years later, when Aditi is all set to tie the knot, you see Naina helping out in the preparations like a sister. This makes me think, when I get married, who will be that friend who will probably be even more excited than my groom? And I pretty much know the answer!

Queen

Do you have a friend who is so cool and savage that just doing nothing with her peps you up? She is this one strong woman who makes you believe in yourself and lightens your troubles in an instant. That’s the kind of friendship we saw between Rani (Kangana Ranaut) and Vijayalakshmi (Lisa Haydon). The exchange of perspectives and ideas between them helped create a good balance in both their lives. And that’s exactly the kind of friend we all need. Do you have VJ to your Rani?

Aisha

Now when I watched Aisha years ago, it kinda depressed me. I mean, look at those clothes, that lifestyle, a walk-in closet and Abhay Deol! Back then, I missed the point but when I watched it again, I had a better perspective. I realised that this movie depicts friendship in the most realistic way, if you’re able to look beyond their Chanel and Gucci. Each one of them have to deal with their own devils before coming together after a sabbatical. And that’s how real friends are – we fight but it doesn’t affect our relationship.

Veere Di Wedding

You know that feeling when you call your BFFs over when your parents go out of town? There are beer bottles on the floor, a makeshift ashtray you made from a bowl and a few boxes of pizzas lying on the floor. From mindless banter to heavy what-is-the-meaning-of-life kinda shit, you feel like you can say anything you want, unfiltered. Veere Di Wedding is a movie that brings the exact same feeling. It depicts friendship between four girls that’s mature and accepting.

Angry Indian Goddesses

I will call this one a hidden gem, because a lot of people have not watched it. If you haven’t then you are missing out on a fabulous piece of art. This movie talks about acceptance, strength and love. Each one of them is struggling with their own problems, and yet they help each other out because that’s what strong women do. They uplift each other. If you have a bunch of strong women who support you through thick and thin, watch this movie with them!
