17-Year-Old Maci Currin From Texas Bags The Guinness World Record For Longest Legs. I Didn’t Even Know That Was A Record That Could Be Set

During this pandemic, everyone picked up various hobbies. Some started baking, some started reading more and others started binge-watching Netflix like their life depended on it. Me? I decided I am going to do something I have intended to do for a while. Be more active on social media. And yes I know, I picked the best time to do that considering these days social media is more dramatic than most Bollywood movies. However, in my quest to complete my mission, I have seen some truly absurd and bizarre things on Twitter and Instagram. For instance, today on Twitter I read that a 17-year-old girl from Texas has won the Guinness World Record for having the longest legs. It might not be as bizarre as the woman who put bees on her pregnant belly for a photoshoot but you can’t deny, it’s a piece of news you just have to know more about. 

You see, Texas-based Maci Currin’s legs, that stretch to almost a metre-and-a-half has earned her a very quirky title. She now has the record for longest legs on a teenager. Is it bad that I find this amusing for some reason? What does it say about my sense of humour? 

Anyway, according to the official website of the Guinness World Records, her left leg is 135.267 cm (53.255 in) long, while her right leg is 134.3 cm (52.874 in). All in all, she stands (super) tall at 6ft 10 inches. The website also said that her legs make up for 60% of her height. *insert funny but stereotypical tall girl joke*.  

Even though she is from a family that is relatively tall, neither her parents nor her siblings are as tall as her. Maci said that she wanted to inspire tall people around the world to accept and embrace their height.

She first realised that her legs are longer than average when in 2018 when someone asked her if she wanted a custom pair of leggings when she was not able to find a set in her size. Popular on TikTok, Maci then went onto check for the title of longest legs and applied for it. Of course, being this tall has its advantages and disadvantages but she says she is proud of her “extraordinary feature”. 

Maci took this title from Russia’s Ekaterina Lisina. In 2017, Lisina had broken the Guinness record for being the tallest female professional model with a height of 6 ft 8.77 in, with her legs measuring an unparalleled 132 cm in length. 

After bagging this record, Maci hopes to go to college and achieve the record for being the world’s tallest professional model. I don’t think that will be a tough goal for her to achieve.

All this tall talk has started to make me feel like a midget. I am short anyway but now somehow I feel shorter. Is that possible? For some reason, I can’t stop chuckling at the fact that this 17-year-old girl holds the title of having the world’s longest legs. Who would’ve thought that longest legs is a record that could be set?
