103-Year-Old Man Kaur Wins a Gold in Shot Put. She’s Putting Our Lazy Souls To Shame!

So I am 22, and my daily fitness routine includes taking an exponential number of steps in the entire day that I keep a track of with several fitness apps in my phone. 75 to be exact.  5 of which are daily to the elevator shaft and the others account for the walk I take to the washroom, every time I need to avoid working.

And on the other hand and in another part of the world, we have a certain Man Kaur, who recently won a gold medal in the shot put event at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Poland, get this, at the age of 103. Clearly age is just a number here, because this woman has set some serious fitness goals for each and every one of us, who is a pro at procrastination.

She, as it turns out, started running at the age of 93 when she was urged by her son Gurdev Singh, considering she had no knee pain, no heart problem, nothing and found no reason why she shouldn’t start running. And so she did. She started practicing for tournaments and started going for regular evening runs until she ran right towards making history with her impeccable spirit and determination at this age.

She even encourages other women in their old age to take up this practice along with their kids. After winning the gold, when she was interviewed by TOI, she shared how “I want to win more. I feel very happy after winning. The government has not given me anything, but it doesn’t matter as I just want to win, because winning gives me happiness.”

And won she has, our hearts and our faith in running.
