Olympic Swimmer Katie Ledecky Swam Across A Pool With A Glass Of Chocolate Milk Balanced On Her Head. And Here’s Why She Did That
While plebeians like you and I are struggling to balance work-from-home and household chores, Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky has a different kind of balancing on her mind. In a video that has gone viral, Ledecky can be seen swimming the lengths of an Olympic-sized swimming pool… while balancing a glass of chocolate milk on her head the entire time. I don’t know about you, but to me that is an astonishing feat and just the kind of motivation I needed to begin my week!

Katie Ledecky is an American swimmer who broke the world record in 400m and 800m freestyle swimming at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She holds the record for bagging the most number of individual medals for a female swimmer. But the Internet, where something incredible happens every other day, is totally stunned by what Katie has pulled off in this video she posted on her social media.
Calling it ‘possibly one of the best swims of her career’, Katie can be seen swimming her usual freestyle, without spilling even a drop of that milk!

If Katie Ledecky brought the chocolate milk, the Internet brought the compliment that she could dip in it and relish!
I couldn't stand still in one spot while holding the glass in my hand and not spill it so I feel personally attacked by this

I can’t even make chocolate milk for my kids without spilling it!

Impressive, yes. But can you swim the length of a pool filled with chocolate milk with a glass of water on your head?

Ledecky is insane. Swimming looks easier for her than walking is for me

Pretty sure @katieledecky could go under 5:00 in the 500 freestyle with a cup of chocolate milk on her head if flip turns weren't necessary.pic.twitter.com/h6QSeIATGQ

Team USA swimmer @katieledecky posted a video on Instagram of herself swimming a full length with chocolate milk balanced on her head. I'm not convinced it's more impressive than winning five Olympic golds, but I'm also not not convinced. pic.twitter.com/KqgrDcGxTr

Now for those skeptics who wonder what made Ledecky undertake such a unique challenge…. Turns out, it was part of the #GotMilk challenge that is a rage on TikTok currently. The #GotMilk campaign has been around in the States since the 90s, and has over the years involved several celebrities posing with a glass of milk, often sporting a milk moustache with the caption ‘Got Milk?’. However, the campaign this year has targeted the social media-loving generation, with celebs like Ledecky finding creative ways to pose with milk.
Katie Ledecky swam with a glass of milk on her head as part of the new #gotmilk campaign.
An athlete that is willing to create unique content is 10x more valuable than your traditional athlete/brand partnership.

The ad campaign part aside, Katie Ledecky’s feat is still an impressive one.
I don’t care if this is part of some Got Milk campaign. This is an athlete at the peak of her athletic abilities doing something us mere mortals couldn’t even conceive of being possible before today.
Also, now I really want chocolate milk

Makes me think we ought to get creative with our Olympic sports too, and introduce something as crazy as swimming laps while balancing things on one’s head!
Except with beer and you have to chug it at the end.
