Baishali’s New Sari Isn’t Quite A Sari…
I am a hardcore desi girl. I absolutely love wearing saris, more than lehengas and salwar suits, and, if I do say so myself, I carry them off pretty well. I have, in the past, played badminton and chased annoying boys around my school field in a sari. Yeah.
I wore one last week, and the compliments I received made me glow. With my quintessential Bengali looks, saris suit me, I suppose. Thankfully, my mother has impeccable taste when it comes to saris so I never really have to pick ones out myself.
But recently, I decided that it was time to buy one myself and that too, online. Pretty novel concept, sari shopping online, no? I have done it before, but it’s been so long that I figured it’s time to update my desi wardrobe.
For the last couple of weeks, all you would see on Instagram was the Kapoor sisters going on about their new label launch, Rheson. It was only on the day of the launch did I figure how to pronounce it (read: Reason). The pieces seemed funky, edgy, and yet super wearable, so I figured I should check out the entire collection.
The collection online, though, is pretty limited, but the only thing that caught my eye enough to make me immediately hit ‘Add to cart’ was this super cool Mogra Palazzo Sari. Palazzos + Sari? You got me!
This piece is basically a pair of palazzos that comes with a draped dupatta to make the entire ensemble look like a palazzo-sari. The soft georgette fabric, coupled with the delicate floral prints, makes this the perfect summer pick.
In fact, given how casual and chic this one is, I wouldn’t necessarily wait for a special or festive occasion — it would work for a night out or even a Sunday brunch. It’s all about how you carry it off, right?
