These Earrings Will Be Part Of Simi’s Next Wedding Guest Ensemble

2016 can be officially called the ‘Year Of Attending Weddings’ for me. I’ve got invite after invite from friends, more friends, cousins, distant family members and the list goes on. Among the list of endless invites, the one I am eagerly looking forward to is that of my ex-roomie/BFF’s. She’s my awesomest (yes, I make up words when I am speechless) friend — everything from being my 3-am pal who’d give me a reality check before saying ‘Shut up and go sleep now’ to the one for whom you make these BIG FAT WEDDING plans, take mental notes of every song that you’d dance to at her sangeet, dole out free wedding style do’s and don’ts and the sorts. Basically, she’s family guised as a friend. And I can’t wait to attend her wedding that’s happening in a few months from now. So yes, the wedding guest ensemble shopping is also on my mind.

Confession Time: I am one of those who plans my wedding guest outfit months before the occasion. Judge me not; I like it. I have mood boards for style inspiration, saved images for hair and make-up among other things. I think the planning stage is important as it gives me an edge when it comes to my ensemble. Also, anything is better when it’s thought through, isn’t it? That said, I like to keep it simple and classy instead of working out a rather loud look.

Zariin Uncut Citrine & Pearls Earring

You might already know that most South Indian weddings don’t have a sangeet ceremony. But my best friend decided to keep one. Now I think it’s important to keep the jewellery for this ceremony as light as I can, so I can be comfortable when I’m dancing the night away or even running errands. Also, since I have a small yet oblong face shape, I avoid shoulder dusters and wear danglers that are smaller in size. Which is why I think this pair of not-too-big uncut stone and small pearl danglers from jewellery brand Zariin is perfect for me. I like the uncut citrine stone — though a variety of quartz, this particular piece is a colour that isn’t extremely brownish-orange as the stone is supposed to be. Instead, it’s a lighter shade set in 22kt gold-plated. Also, I love the addition of small pearls to the end of this pair; quite a refreshing piece compared to the pearl earrings you find in stores. Most importantly, here’s a piece that’s a great match to the ensemble I plan to wear to the wedding.
