Jackets? For summer? Am I crazy? No!

If you’ve been feeling the Indian heat already, you’ll know that the best kind of clothing for our mind-numbing summer is lightweight, breezy clothing that allows your body to stay cool and comfortable. So what am I thinking recommending jackets to you for the summer? For starters, they’re bomber jackets, which are all the rage this season. And secondly, they’re light enough to use as layering pieces — whether you want to protect your skin from tanning when you’re out and about, and especially if you work in a chilly office environment and need something chic to cover up with! What’s more, they’re great transitional pieces and will stay fashionable enough through the monsoons and right into the mid-November chill. See? It’s literally something you can wear all year round, and that’s reason enough for me to invest in a trendy item of clothing.

If you haven’t been paying attention to runway trends this year, let me just tell you that the bomber is IN. Be it Vetements’ giant jackets, the lushly sequinned ones at St Laurent, or Alexander Wang’s sporty net numbers, you’ll definitely find more affordable takes on this trend to suit every taste and budget on the ever-dependable high street. Be it a printed cotton piece (see that gorgeous green Jodi number), or a luxe satin piece (see Mango and Zara), you’ll find something that suits your sensibility below.

Best way to style them? Over crop tops and culottes, or tied around the waist on a pretty summer dress. Add a pair of sneakers and you’ll be rocking the athleisure trend to perfection!
