Zahra’s New Metallic Sneakers Are Lit AF!
I’ve been feeling rather uninspired by my wardrobe and accessory choices lately. I’ve been veering on the path of minimalism for a while now, and while it’s great to not be bogged down on a daily basis making wardrobe choices, I am feeling the need to up the ante a little bit — especially in the accessories department.
As you already know by now, a good accessory can elevate even the most basic outfit into a statement-worthy ensemble with the addition of one hero element. So while my wardrobe remains more or less the same in terms of its less-is-more vibe, I’ve been pushing the boundaries slightly with statement accessories that speak for themselves. And if there’s one statement piece that does all the talking for you, it’s a pair of metallic shoes.
And my metallic shoes of choice currently are Vans’ Metallic SK8 Hi-Slim Sneakers. A slimmed down version of the legendary Vans lace-up high-top, these sneakers feature metallic leather uppers, padded collars for support and flexibility, and signature rubber waffle outsoles. Plus that Rose Gold colour — can I just say how much I LOVE it?
Now, I know a lot of you will have reservations about the high top style, but I’m here to tell you that high tops can work with just about any outfit if only you’re willing to step out of that box you’ve been confining yourself to and live a little. No, seriously. Pair them with cuffed boyfriend jeans or high-waist pants, or even with a midi skirt, or a billowy high-low hem dress. Let your shoes be the focus of your look by pairing them with minimal garments and you’ll be walking the talk to great style in no time.
The only thing to keep in mind while wearing high tops, though? A little show of skin around the calves helps to balance out the style. Trust me, metallics are the new neutral, and a chic pair of metallic shoes is a great way to work the trend into your everyday wardrobe.
