This Clever Detail From Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s Cannes Dress Has Us Floored!
Apart from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, another celebrity who has been a constant at the Cannes Film Festival from way back when is Sonam Kapoor. Debuting her first ever Cannes look in 2011, Sonam has been associated with Cannes as a representative for a number of brands. She is always one of the best dressed Indian celebrities at the global event. This year too is no different for the actress, and one look in particular, has gotten us all kinds of excited!
The actress chose a custom lemon yellow Ashi Studio dress for one of her press meets. It featured an elaborate ruffled off-shoulder panel and the quirkiest back we have seen at the festival yet.
A deep back designed to mirror the shape of a heart gives this dress that wow factor. As far as back designs go, we are totally digging this innovative one!

All Hail the Queen! Sonam Kapoor rules the room in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla as only a Maharani can. @abujanisandeepkhosla X @rheakapoor Jewels – @chopard Hair and Makeup – @artinayar @bbhiral Styled by – @rheakapoor Photography – @thehouseofpixels #sonamkapoor #cannes2019 #goddess #ethereal #glamorous #beauty #drapes #silhouette #ekladkikodekhatohaisalaga #abujani #sandeepkhosla #abujanisandeepkhosla #fashion #designers #rheakapoor
For an evening put together to celebrate Chopard perfumes, Sonam wore one of her usual designers, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The outfit reimagined a modern day ‘Maharani’ with a pleated skirt paired with a hand-embroidered bodice. The outfit was made up of silk tissue to afford it a rustic royal vibe.
Sonam kept her outfit purely business for the press interviews. After the blush beaded gown from 2017, she chose another Elie Saab creation, this time off the red carpet. Fresh off the runway, this deep ‘klein’ blue ensemble was a good mix of glamour and sophistication. Nevertheless, we wish her media images weren’t altered so much, so could have seen the gown’s original blue:
Oh, the horrors of Instagram filters!
For her very first look at Cannes, Sonam brought to life the ‘Valentino Red’ in a sheer panelled layered gown. She adorned her hair with delicate flowers and kept the makeup in a blush romantic hue. We love the easy grandeur of this look; it is all kinds of delightful!
