This Pleated Summer Dress Is Making Simi Rather Cheery!
Thanks to the goddamned heat in Mumbai, I have moments when I wish I could can just shut my eyes, think of a cooler place, and that’s it… I’m transported there in an instant. But then I sigh really hard, pull my juvenile self together, and make plans to live through these soaring temperatures in a smarter way.
For instance, redoing my wardrobe for the season is one simple solution to fight the blazing summer. You know, like shifting every dress in my wardrobe to the front, making way for breezy clothes rather than the tight, clingy, uncomfortable ones, and replacing cheery hues with dark ones.
And the one garment that makes it to my spring wardrobe is a chic summer dress. While floral summer dresses are what most of us are inclined towards buying, that’s not the only option for the season. In fact, during one of my recent online scouting exercises, I found this darn cute dress that’s perfection as far as summer sartorial choices are concerned.
This dress from The Meraki Project — a chic, indie clothing label by designer Sonali Pamnani — is so cheery in its yellow hue that I loved it instantly. What’s more, I love pleated dresses. Pleats lend a cutesy look to any garment and I really like that vibe. And this dress has a really well-done silhouette; it’s slightly anti-fit, very roomy, and perfectly qualifies as summer-y.
Easy and comfortable cotton and handwoven cotton ikat make up the dress (sold right there). It’s just the dress you want to step out in on a hot and humid Saturday afternoon. Match it with a pair of sneakers and a box bag, and you’re sartorially sorted. Go shop this Meraki Project dress STAT, because I sure am going to do that right away.
