Street Style Spotting: Anushka Mulchandani aka Pocket Stylist

By  |

Why wait for fashion week to stalk all your favourite street style mavens? These fashionistas are just as stylish on a regular day too. At Hauterfly, we’re always scouting for style inspiration. And who better than some real girls to show us how it’s done? In our new series Street Style Spotlight, we showcase real people with real style. These ladies are boss ladies in their own domain, and do everything (yes, even run errands!) with oodles of style.

Meet Anushka Mulchandani aka Pocket Stylist. She’s a fashion influencer, stylist, and writer, and has been on our radar for a long time now for always keeping things stylish. We decided to get to know her better and steal all her secrets to putting together the most Instagrammable #OOTDs.

Where can we find you?

Describe your style with a famous Sarah Jessica Parker quote.
“I have this little substance abuse problem — expensive footwear.” Except in my case, it would be accessories!☺

What sets your style apart from the rest?
I don’t know if this sets me apart, but I have a knack for wearing one piece of clothing in multiple ways, ensuring that the entire outfit looks slightly different every time I wear it.

3 key elements in your wardrobe?
The perfect black, going-out top. A great fitting pair of jeans. And a pair of shoes you can dance all night long in.

3 Instagram influencers you follow for inspiration?
Diipa Khosla: Because she seems goofy and fun, and her photos never look toooo thought out.
Eva Chen: Because as Instagram’s fashion director, she has the best tips on how to use the app (and not to mention, the cutest kids!).
Sarah Angius: Her hairstyle tips are easy to do, and more so because she has curly hair like I do.

3 things that are currently on your wishlist?
A shell bracelet from Tohum Design, a Mansur Gavriel tote, Versace’s Medusa Medal sandals, and Kepler hoops from Misho.

3 online brands you love shopping from?
I’m trying to declutter my wardrobe, so I’ve been doing this very rarely now. Stores I’m visiting these days are Since 1988, Nicobar, and your trusty ol’ Zara.

An easy style hack you swear by?
Tightly knotting your basic crop top in the front can make it look like a whole new top.

Current street style trends that are easily wearable?
1. An oversized rock band tee with shorts or jeans.
2. A monotone suit.
3. Everything borrowed from your parents’ closet – mom jeans, mom shorts, dad sneakers…!

Apps you use for the perfect street style ‘gram?
I use just one — Snapseed — to edit my photos.

Last big splurge?
I’m obsessed with accessories. I just got a few gold necklaces, and a couple of bracelets made.

Your go-to look?
A pair of comfortable trousers and a knotted crop top.

Always fluttering around looking for a great pair of sole-mates.
