Sayani Gupta Made Velcro Sandals Look Cool And We Don’t Know How She Pulled It Off
There are a few things every ‘desi’ prepubescent child has had to endure in his/her life. A bowl cut that their mums made them get at the local barber’s, a second-hand bike passed down from their siblings and a couple of chunky shoes that light up when you walked. These are but just a few things that I can recall from my childhood (90s kind right here), with one fashion element becoming a part of my life through ages of 6 through 11…the black velcro sandals!
Growing up, I hated these sandals. They made my feet look gaudy, made a loud noise every time I took them off before dance class and did nothing to keep my feet clean, or warm, in the streets of the 90s era Rajahmundry. Thankfully, I managed to evade the sandals once I hit puberty and switched to cute flats and ballerina pumps. But, the memories if the same still haunt me.
Having said that, I was reminded of them on a Thursday morning when I spotted Sayani Gupta in a paired with her absolutely gorgeous red and white salwar kameez. The Four More Shots Please star looked so cool in her outfit.

The Bong-beaut was out and about on errands and her ethnic ensemble is such a fun take on every day ethnic style. The chikankari salwar kameez paired with flats, a boho bag, and cute jhumkis is such a minimal yet statement look. The outfit is easy-breezy, as a strong play of the colour red and with added shades of crimson on her lips and cheeks. We love the simplicity of these separates, it is a great example of the use of one colour to make your look pop. Love!

On the work front, Sayani is just coming off a high of playing a serial killer in Posham Pa (2019), a performance that has garnered acclaim. She is also one of the early participants of the current CAA-NRC protests, using her social media and protest presence as a volunteer to speak out. What a rockstar!
