Charlize Theron Wore A Tiffany Bracelet To Hide Her Untouched Roots. We’ve Done That For Years And It’s Called A Maang Tikka
The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) are accolades given out by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), to the best of film and television in a year. The event draws A-lister celebrities and the red carpet is coveted by designers hoping to put stars in their best creations. This year was no different as glamorous celebrities churned out fabulous looks for the shutterbugs and the night belonged to strikingly beautiful grows full with ruffles and layers.
But one of the biggest draws of the night was the stunning accessorizing done to complement these statement looks and we spotted something that was close to home.
Keeper of the fountain of youth Charlize Theron stepped on the carpet in a smart Givenchy ensemble, one that consisted of a glitzy crop top. The actress confessed in one of the pre-show interviews, “I didn’t have time to do my roots,”. Following this, her hairstylist Adir Abergel decided to improvise a bit and tuck in her ingrown hair with the help of a Tiffany & Co. Victoria Line diamond bracelet (which costs a whopping 11L!). The glam team called this a “futuristic look”, but any ‘desis’ out there reading will know that we’ve been doing this for years, if not, years.
The desi jugaad is by now a well-known phenomenon among those in the know. An essential trait we learn from our parents is to find alternative ways of doing it things and most times these ideas are amusingly creative. This is very true in fashion as well. We’ve been turning our mothers’ Benarasi sarees into pretty flare skirts forever. We have also used accessories to fill gaps in our looks, maang tikkas coming to the rescue of a wide centre parts or chain malas‘being wrapped around dainty wrists as layered bracelets. Uhm, been there done that.
It was fascinating to see Charlize’s nod to the classic maang tikka on an international red carpet, whether she was cognizant of it or not. I mean, we can watch this stunning beauty slay on the carpet for days, at 44 she is looking fit and fabulous. We wonder where she hides her keys to the fountain of youth (*wink*)!
