Would You Fancy A Pair Of Anglo-Kolhapuris?

Nimish Shah’s label Shift has an aesthetic that’s entirely his own. Putting traditional Indian accoutrements like print and embellishments on the back burner, he blends the masculine with the feminine with uncommon ease, resulting in a whimsical take on fashion that’s refreshing as much as it is modern.

His latest experimentation is a 20-piece capsule collection for the Mumbai concept store Le Mill, launched this month, which is full of fuss-free garments in traditional textiles. What’s more, he has introduced footwear for the first time and I’m utterly in love with this pair of tan leather slingback flats dubbed the ‘Anglo-Kolhapuris’. The dapper young designer says he’s been inspired by the humble Kolhapuri chappal, and has anglicised them ever so cooly so that his version can fit into every woman’s wardrobe perfectly.

And he’s not wrong. This pair has enough promise to become an easy chic staple in my closet all year long.
