Neena Gupta Wore Golden Sneakers To A Red Carpet Event. Is She Cool Or What?
Time and again it has been proven that it is better to stand out than follow the herd. Its always nice to see someone be themselves than blindly follow what everyone else is doing. Granted that is the safe thing to do, but standing out from the crowd not only gets you noticed faster but also gives you a sense of you, that is always nice to have. We got that vibe from veteran actress Neena Gupta at the IIFA awards, she looked so elegant and so unapologetically different, we loved it.
The IIFA night was held in Mumbai and it had Bollywood go all out for their green carpet looks. I mean, that was the expectation but it didn’t really work out that way. The star-studded event, hosted by Ayushmann Khurana and his brother Aparshakti, had some of Bollywood biggest names in attendance- Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif to name a few. Out of all of them though, was Neena Gupta who stunned everyone when she showed up at the event in a beautiful dress and wait for it- golden sneakers. Yep, you read that right.
The Badhai Ho actress chose to sport a simple, yet classy dress designed by her daughter and famed designer Masaba Gupta. The neon green, one-shoulder dress paired with a gorgeous neck piece by Birdichand made everyones heads turn and not just because of the colour. If she had paired it up with a pair of heels, we would have thought, well nice. But she turned it up a notch with a pair of statement golden sneakers. We are completely in awe of her style.
Before the event, Masaba took to IG to post the picture of her mother rocking the outfit giving us major “cool mom” vibes. The caption of that picture read, “Mujhe gown nahin chahiye or heels ka shauk toh hai hi nahin” – Neenaji for the IIFA Awards this evening in a custom.” ( I don’t want a gown and I do not like heels at all) The caption sounds like such a mom thing to say, LOL.
Neena, also posted the outfit on IG with the caption, “Laut ke buddhu ghar ko aaye.” (The fool always returns home) to commemorate the dress designed by her daughter.
On the work front, Neena Gupta just won the award for Best Actress for her Indian feature film The Last Colour at the International Film Festival, Boston.
