Mumbai Girl Naomi Janumala Is Hanging Out With Rihanna And Starring In Her Fenty Campaign. We Dig it!

Desi girls are truly making a lot of noise in the international fashion scene. With the likes of Bollywood A-listers Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra wowing at red carpets, Indian models are not far behind. Case in point: Mumbai girl Naomi Janumala, who is starring in the campaign for Rihanna’s brainchild brand, Fenty. In a recent feature with Vogue, Naomi revealed details of her jet-setter lifestyle, being an international model and breaking new grounds in the fashion world.

About meeting Rihanna for the first time, she revealed, “When I first met Rihanna, we hugged, and the first thing she asked me was, ‘Where [are] you from?’ When I told her I was from India, she screamed, ‘I knew it, I knew I wanted you! You’re so gorgeous, it’s annoying, I don’t even want to stand next to you! Ahhh!’”. “I can’t even believe it sometimes that she said all of that to me”, Naomi gushed.

Naomi also revealed tidbits about some pieces from the Fenty collection being inspired by a sari and jhumkas. She credits this detail as the reason why the music mogul, now businesswoman, wants to have an Indian model in the campaign. Rihanna styled and shot the whole campaign herself, being super excited and dedicated at the shoot, Naomi recalled.

Naomi started her career as a model just three years ago and has already added big names likes Alexander Wang, Adidas, H&M, Nike x Nordstrom, Levi’s, etc. to her extensive resume. We are counting on seeing more of this eccentric dusky beauty, even though being friends with Rihanna is peak goals and is giving us major envy!

This is another move from Fenty to spread their word about inclusivity in fashion. Even in beauty, this was one of the first brands to introduce foundation in more than the then norm of 15-18 shades. They came out with over 50 shades, ones that catered to users of the product across the spectrum of shades and we were thankful.

We love what they, as a brand, are doing with their runway shows and campaigns. We are going to say it here first, they are more than just a brand, they are a feeling!
