The Metallic Loafers We Have A Serious Crush On!
If you’re a diva, there’s no doubt that your style soul has a part that’s in love with all things OTT. And in order to satiate that streak, designers over the globe have focussed on futuristic themes giving us serious shoe goals. And if there’s one trend you must definitely slip into this year, it’s got to be metallic loafers.
In case you’re looking to add that hint of drama to your ensemble, I recommend silver as the perfect hue. And what better than sporting a pair of metallic loafers? They’re not just in tandem with the trend but also spell comfort. Metallic loafers are the season’s IT shoes, and while they exude that wild streak in your sartorial choices, they can also work as a key piece when you’re looking to elevate a basic outfit.
While I was online sleuthing on Net-A-Porter to discover what’s new and trending, I stumbled upon this perfect pair of metallic shoes that I am so in love with. Just look at those slip-ons by Robert Clergerie — they’re every shoe lover’s dream! Firstly, that backless silhouette and minimal block-heels… I need not remind you how in-vogue both these trends are right now. Top it up with the supple silver leather that it is made of, giving us every reason to hop onto the metallic shoe trend right away. Also, this pair has cushioned insoles, which obviously means it’s pretty comfortable.
But so many plus points means there ought to be a glitch somewhere. Aha! Not in the shoe, but in my luck (#facepalm)! It is at a price point of a little above Rs 35,000, and spending that much on a pair of shoes would undoubtedly validate my Urban Poor status! Sorry, that’s not my deal. And so, I decided to work a little hard and find a pair similar to that chic piece. Voila (pats my back!), presenting a pair identical to this Robert Clergerie’s sandal that I spotted at Zara.
One look at this Zara pair and you’ll be like, “TWINNING!” (no kidding: my graphic designer and editor did just that). This laminated-finish pair isn’t entirely backless but it is slightly folded at the heel, and I think that works just fine. A classic silver loafer, this pair comes with a minimal block heel as well. The best part? The price. It is just about Rs 4,000. When compared to the real inspiration piece, now that’s what we call a save, isn’t it?!
