5 Outfits From The Lokmat Style Awards 2019 We Can Totally See Ourselves Wearing IRL. They Were All So Relatable.

5 Outfits From The Lokmat Style Awards 2019 We Can Totally See Ourselves Wearing IRL. They Were All So Relatable.

Celebrity fashion in Bollywood has always been wide in its scope. It enjoys the best of both worlds. We have seen our A-listers saunter down red carpets in clothes from international designers which satisfies their aim of a global reach. They also strive to shine the spotlight on homegrown designers which makes any B-town celeb’s style file very versatile. We can be blessed with the sight of Kareena Kapoor Khan in a sultry summer dress from Dion Lee one evening and then in a custom ‘Bebo’ saree by Picchika the very next day. You can’t get that kind of range from any of the fashion contemporaries in the rest of the world.

This makes the many red carpet events at home very exciting. We never know what kind of look our favourite celebrity will go for and although 2019 has been hit and miss with being on point, it was still fun to watch. But last night’s carpet from the Lokmat Most Stylish Awards gave us something entirely different…the fashion was actually relatable. Being a regional newspaper, Lokmat is published out of Mumbai, the major theme last night seemed to be beautiful ethnic fashion. You don’t see so many sarees on the same night at an awards show in the country, which has, unfortunately, become the norm. *Sigh*

We did have some absolute wins from the night though, take a look!

Deepika Padukone In Red

Is there an award for ‘Best Fashion Collaboration’ because we have some ideas. Deepika was in yet another statement Sabyasachi saree last night, a tangerine red floral number we can see ourselves wearing for one of the million pre-wedding cocktails we are invited to this month!

Malaika Arora In Beige

Malaika and Kareena are BFFs in the truest sense because they share fashion looks amongst themselves. Bebo’s bandhgala suit from last week was emulated in Malaika’s organza ensemble, both from Raghavendra Rathore, and we think it is very charming. Is androgynous ethnic wear becoming a thing? We hope it is!

Kriti Sanon In Rose Tones

A stunning rose detailed lehenga that comes with a pretty ruffled sheer cape jacket…need we say more? Kriti broke her streak of subtle blush hues and wore this Shehla Khan ensemble last night and it worked for her beautifully.

Yami Gautam In Sheer

Unpopular Opinion: Yami’s gold-embroidered, gunmetal-tones sheer saree from Raw Mango is not “boring”, it’s classic. We’d love to have easy-to-wear sarees like these in our closets at all times, she looks very pretty.

Taapsee Pannu In Silver

We love this look on Taapsee! Everything from the choker blouse to puff, see-through sleeves, this is a stunning saree. A version of the rich ivory shades we saw stealing the limelight on this year’s runways, this silver saree is like a statement accessory in itself!
