LFW 2016: HUEMN, Sneha Arora & Surendri
HUEMN
Showcasing their Fall 2016 line, Pranav Mishra and Shyma Shetty of HUEMN made quite a statement at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016. Their collection showcased edgy, sports luxe garments in a mix of textures inspired by animal and reptile skins, luxe silk, rich velvet, and faux fur.We spotted ultra-fashionable tees, zippered blousons with exaggerated sleeves, biker jackets, satin separates, and velvet suits. The colour palette matched the richness of the fabrics as shades of oxblood, deep rust, glowing emerald, sparkling silver grey, merged artistically with black. Eye-catching motifs like furry gorilla faces on sweatshirts and coiled snake embroidery on tops made for dramatic visual statements, and tough met glam in all the right proportions here!
Sneha Arora
It was a stylishly untamed fashion odyssey at Sneha Arora, whose Find Your Wild collection featured some distinct motifs — hybrid animals, prancing zebras, speeding reindeer and stags. The muted colour story ranged from browns to greys, with the occasional stark white, nude and striking teal making an appearance. Comfort was key in Arora’s collection; one that gave off all vibes summery. We saw trench coats in light fabrics, summer jackets, tie-up blouses, long shirts and backless dresses. Pleats were noticed in abundance throughout the display; there were accordion pleats on blouses and soft coats as well as skirts and dresses. All in all, hers was a collection for the wild yet free, the ones whose sartorial choices are bold yet practical.
Surendri
Showcasing a collection titled DOT and inspired by the cosmos, Yogesh Chaudhury’s collection had seriously futuristic appeal. Shirt kurtas with open tie-up backs, pleated skirts with drawstring crop tops, flowy jumpsuits, off-shouldered dresses, easy palazzos with floppy blouses, and seriously modern Indian wear were among the highlights. The textures, silhouettes and techniques used in the collection were a direct translation of his interstellar inspiration. While the western wear ranged from cut-out gowns to sheath dresses and culottes, the chic ethnic wear was what we had our eye on, which included lehengas, asymmetric blouses and twinkling dupattas full of sequins and zari work.
