You’ll agree with me when I tell you that most of our mothers will never think of our style finds as fashionable. And that would include some of the chicest pieces that make up our wardrobes, such as a pair of heavily distressed denims, a crop top, or even a laser-cut bag. I love laser cuts on everything from accessories to clothing and everything else in between. Honestly, they add this edgy dimension to any piece and amp it up to seriously chic levels. But carry a laser-cut bag along and your mother would probably remark: ‘What kind of fashion is this where you pay more money to get a damaged (read: perforated) piece?”

Laser-cut detailing has been quite a deal ever since one saw the detailing on Fendi purses in 2012. This year, we saw the styles in both Milan and New York Fashion Week. From Tod’s to Zimmerman and even Emilio Pucci, laser-cuts made for some chic detailing in their clothing and accessories.

A super chic bag made out of black leather, this piece is sleek yet softly-structured, and decorated with the brand’s signature laser-cut perforations. It is this laser-cut detailing of the bag that reveals the tan interior thus contrasting it perfectly with its black exterior. But no matter how much I WANT it, a Rs 2 lakh bag is not going to make it to my bag closet just yet. So I did find a way cheaper version of this lovely tote at Charles & Keith. This piece does not incorporate as many perforations as the Alaïa one, but it sure does look nice. I’d give this a plus for a magnetic snap closure (and another two points for that price). Perfect, isn’t it?
