Kim K Is At It Again! The Reality Star Has Been Accused Of Copying Another Designer’s Sunglasses…And More!

By  |

Kim Kardashian West is a storm in the fashion industry, a shit-storm yes, but one nevertheless. The reality star has been the butt of many controversies in the fashion and beauty world. Kim manages to stay in the limelight by creating publicity, most of it by pissing other people off. The latest one has to do with an accusation of straight up lifting designs from another brand for her own collection…and it is messy!

In another case of the famous Diet Prada investigations, Kim Kardashian has been accused of copying the designs of Emilio Pucci for her Carolina Lemke collab collection.

Hey @kimkardashian , so it’s def not cool to use someone else’s name and likeness when promoting knockoffs, as evidenced by your win against @missguided , but should it be ok to use your OWN name and likeness to promote them? Lol. Funny how those SS17 @emiliopucci shades you wore in August 2018 ended up in your eyewear collab with @carolinalemkeberlin that launched in April this year. Hypocrisy at its finest! ✨ • #kimkardashian #kardashian #pucci #emiliopucci #kuwtk #sunnies #shade #sunglasses #eyewear #neon #neongreen #neonyellow #kuwtk #kimkardashianwest #shapewear #carolinalemke #collab #wiwt #ootd #accessories #mfw #milanfashionweek #sunglassesfashion #sporty #missguided #collaboration #lol #dietprada

The Instagram page that is famous for calling out ‘fakes’ in fashion, accused Kim of lifting the unique design of the Pucci sunglasses for her own collection. The sunglasses from Pucci were spotted by Kim herself way back in August 2018 and are now being sold under her name. The sunglasses are inspired by the shield variety of shades that are often used by sportspersons on the field. While there hasn’t been any response from Kim about the allegations, it is safe to say that yes, with a unique design like such, sunglasses can also be copied!

This revelation has come straight after Kim was awarded a nearly $2.8 million settlement from fast fashion brand Missguided. She accused them of using her ‘Likeness’ and ‘Personality’ to sell their clothes, as seen in this image:

Hey Kim, we're onto your little game. Just when you thought nothing would top the fake-out "confession" of Kendall's Proactiv ad, the Kardashians do it again. @kimkardashian posted a picture of herself in an old dress Kanye made for her, presumably under his Yeezy label, with a pithy caption pleading for fast fashion brands to let her wear the dress before knocking it off. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Three hours after her post, it popped up on quick-turn retailer @missguided , who has entire website sections dedicated to kopying the Kardashian style. Last year, Fashion Nova famously dropped their own versions of Kylie's custom birthday looks mere hours after she posted them. The lack of transparency around celebrity endorsements is a big problem facing social media. We think we smell a rat. Dieters, is this a thinly veiled collab, or does Missguided have a secret atelier of magical elves making stretchy dresses round the clock and shooting them on Kim K doppelgängers? Lol. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #kimkardashian #missguided #literally #fastfashion #collab #transparency #designer #yeezy #ye #kanye #kimye #collaboration #magicalelves #speedtomarket #retail #luxurybrand #kardashian #kuwtk #fashionnova #ootd #wiwt #dietprada

But the hawk-eyed fashionistas over at Diet Prada have speculated that Kim is indeed ‘involved’ in these rip-offs somehow. They suggested that the lack of transparency in celebrity endorsements are to blame. We often don’t know what a celebrity is getting from a brand to endorse their look or products. They also speculate that Kim must have dropped the association with Missguided, in order to seem like she’s in on the fight to stop plagiarism in the fashion industry. Laughable hypocrisy? We think so!

UPDATE: See “MUGLER” story highlight for a screenshot of the date of the Capture One session (it’s labeled 02-14-19). Fashion Nova Mugler knockoff shot 4 days before Kim wore it on 02/18/19. Kim, you’ll never fess up to your sneaky lil collaborations, but we got all the receipts 😎. • ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At some point recently, a fast fashion photo shoot happened featuring a vintage Mugler dress that @kimkardashian just happened to wear on Sunday night to the Hollywood Beauty Awards…and yes, it appears to be a real dress, not photoshop. Ahead of Fashion Nova releasing the dress at 9pm EST tonight, house model Yodit Yemane may or may not have accidentally leaked a story 2.5 hours earlier of photo options from her shoot featuring the Mugler replica. The file names were even labeled “Kim dress” while it’s now being called “Winning Beauty Cut Out Gown” lol. This begs the question: Did Fashion Nova whip up the dress overnight in their Los Angeles atelier after seeing Kim in it or is she peddling her vintage finds to mass retailers ahead of debuting them for a calculated, timely release? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • 📷 : Getty • #kimkardashian #mugler #thierrymugler #manfredthierrymugler #bodycon #cutout #barelythere #strappy #straps #black #vintage #dress #velvet #fashionnova #wiwt #ootd #kuwtk #hollywood #beauty #kkwbeauty #kardashian #ecommerce #shady #smh #photoshoot #model #fashionmodel #dietprada

We have to go to admit, the gatekeepers of genuine fashion Diet Prada do make a compelling case. It cannot be a co-incidence that fast fashion brands release knock-off versions of her designer outfits mere three hours later on their websites. It just cannot. Do we wonder how long the Kardashian clan will be able to keep it up before people get exhausted of their shenanigans? Only time will tell!
