It Was A ‘Legs Day Out’ At The Vogue Beauty Awards 2019. There’s Got To Be A Better Way To Do Red Carpet Than Thigh High Slits
Yet another glamorous red carpet event has come and gone we are left wanting more! The Vogue Beauty Awards 2019 last night, honoured fabulous women working in the Indian space. In attendance were quite a lot of known faces, women who have been making waves with their work over the past year. While some of the award categories evade us, there is one thing we know for sure…the red carpet fashion was repetitive. It was a night of thigh-high slits and while they are a classic red carpet looks, too many of them got very boring, very fast.
With this year’s theme being ‘disco,’ we hoped the stars would go all out with shimmering dresses, many shades of disco ball grey, and at least one flared jumpsuit! While we did see some looks featuring a distinctive ‘disco’ detail, most of them left us underwhelmed. This included the train of thigh-high slit gowns, gorgeous but how snooze-worthy.

Malaika Arora And Amrita Arora
Malaika and Amrita pulled a sister act in their respective thigh-high slit gowns. Malaika looked uber-sexy in her Aadnevik lace gown and Amrita in her Gauri & Nainika number. Amrita’s back slit detail in the skirt was a fresh touch to the classic look.
Alia Bhatt got the theme of the evening down pat with her glittery Michael Costello gown, although we the fit was totally off from the front.
We love Kriti Sanon how brought hot pink to the red carpet! The leggy beauty showed off her stems in her Monisha Jaising gown. The colour is unique and she styled it well with swept-back hair. How cute is that double detail skirt?
Sara Ali Khan
Sara Ali Khan stayed true to the theme with her big netted ruffle skirted gown. Having said that, the look was very unflattering on her and did not work. We have said it before and say it again, Sara needs to break out of her shell and experiment a bit more with her style.
Apart from the obvious distraction all the thigh-high slits created on the red carpet, we did have some favourites from last night!
Gotta love a stunning glittery wrap gown in black! Sonali, who won the Beauty Warrior Of The Year award, showed up in this smart number from Rebecca Wallace. The gown looks so deliciously chic on her, that big bow is giving it the right amount of feminine.
Sobhita Dhulipala presented quite a unique look for the night and we kinda dig it. The one-shoulder structured dress, shiny crunch boots, and that messy cut. Erm, did she actually chop off her tresses? We want answers!
We can take a guess which one of the celebrities was the last woman standing on the dance floor last night! Radhika Apte is a hit or miss on the red carpet usually but this look is just downright cool. The slinky outfit from Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna, made us want to break into a few moves ourselves!

Shilpa Shetty Kundra
You know those dressed to the max ladies who when they step on to the dance floor, everybody else clears out? Yup, that’s Shilpa Shetty Kndra’s Reema Acra look in a nutshell. She also showed us her take on the currently trending ‘wet hair’ look on the carpet. Gosh, gotta love that gradient!
