These Indian Designers Won The International Woolmark Prize ’16-’17

The winners of the 2016-17 International Woolmark Prize Indian Subcontinent and Middle East are *drum rolls* Indian designers Antar-Agni and Bodice.

That’s right folks, these 2 designers just scored big at the grand final held at the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai.

Antar-Agni’s collections were inspired by the nomadic tribesmen of India and the minimalistic elements of urban dressing. Bodice, on the other hand, are straight-up into modernity and boldness with their approach in the fashion sphere.

The panel consisted of Alison Tay, editor, Grazia Middle East; Che Kurrien, editor, GQ India; Nonita Kalra, editor, Harper’s Bazaar India; Daniel Higgins, fashion editor, Esquire Middle East; Manish Malhotra, fashion designer; Kirsten Lock, fashion director, Ordre; Laura Larbalestier, buying director, Boutique 1; and John Roberts, general manager, Eastern Hemisphere.

Antar-Agni and Bodice will both receive a cool AU$200,000 (approx. Rs. 1.02 cr) to assist with fabric sourcing and marketing of their collectiona, as well as mentoring from industry experts.

In addition, the Indian designers will have the opportunity to have their collections distributed through a network of international brands such as Boon The Shop, S. Korea; Boutique 1, UAE; David Jones, Australia, and many more, which could potentially take their careers to a whole different level with global exposure.
