Simi’s Steals: The Polka-Dotted Culottes
One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: Every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!
If you’re one to keep track of what’s in vogue, you wouldn’t be oblivious to the fact that culottes are having quite a moment this season. Billowy pants with higher hemlines, these are perfect for both petite and plus-sized women. In fact, even runways across have given this trend a nod — Mara Hoffman, Ralph Lauren, Alice + Olivia, Michal Kors, Rodarte and more. The one advantage these pants have over others is that they’re quite the midi skirt’s look-alike, which adds to its uber-feminine quality. You could go for a solo-toned look by pairing co-ord culottes or just keep it simple by working a white pair of these with an off-the-shoulder crop top in denim. There are way too many ways to style these pants. Just perfectly fashionable even for your day-to-day drills, ain’t it?
For this week’s pick, I’ve teamed up a pair of polka-dotted culottes from Forever New with a chic wrap top from H&M. I’ve accessorised it here with rectangular stud earrings from Pipa + Bella and a set of rings in gold from Mango. Add to that a lovely pair of mules in black by Zara and lug that super chic studded cross-body bag in black from Forever 21 and you’re good to go. You could also add a watch to the look, just if you wouldn’t want to feel bare in the wrist. Also, just in case you’re looking to skip the heels, Katrina Kaif worked a similar look (Dhruv Kapoor crop-top with Bodice cropped pants) but with a pair of white sneakers. Another way to style it maybe!
