How To Style 1 Basic Tee In 5 Formal Ways!
When Kristen Stewart stepped onto one of the world’s most important red carpets wearing a basic t-shirt, not only was it something you expected from her but it looked freaking fantastic! Paired with a pearly white Chanel pencil skirt and pointy-toe pumps, KStew didn’t wear the combination just once, she was bold enough to do it twice. The second time around, she picked a black sweater tee with another skirt from Chanel, with peep-toe Christian Louboutin stilettos.
My point is, who here thought a simple tee could double up as a formal piece in your closet? Certainly not me! Since we now have enough proof thanks to Miss Stewart, I’ve taken the liberty of styling a basic white tee (a staple in every girl’s closet) to make it look as formal as possible.
Here’s where you can get your basic tee:
And here’s how you can style it…
1. With a skirt like Kristen Stewart
The first time you try it, do it like Kristen. Pair your white tee with a slick little pencil skirt. Contrasting stilettos and gold jewellery added to the mix will work like a charm. Alternatively, you could skip the tall heels and go for a pair of brogues if your party is formal but not exactly a red carpet.
2. With high-waisted trousers
A pair of well-fitting high waist trousers can take you through any outing. Not only do they make you look taller, they also tend to highlight all the right parts of your frame. Go monochrome and wear black trousers with your white t-shirt. Choose your comfiest pair of wedges (make sure just the toe peeps out) and carry your sparkliest clutch.
3. With a shimmering dress
The only way to wear sequins in the day without blinding anyone is by covering some of it up. Pair a bodycon, sequinned dress with your basic white tee. All you need to do is twist your tee into a knot at the back and throw on your favourite sneakers and sunnies to match.
4. With a blazer
This is the oldest trick in the book, but a foolproof one. A blazer has the power to instantly make anything look formal. Wear yours with a pair of flared jeans and a hold-all tote — this way, you can wear your basic tee to work too.
5. With culottes
Now this is one Sonam Kapoor would definitely approve of. Remember how she wore her culottes when she was in Cannes? Replace her off-shoulder top with your white t-shirt and wear it with your favourite ankle strap sandals. If it’s good for Sonam, it’s good for us!
