1. Short, medium, long is the way to go

A basic tip to keep in mind whenever you are layering your necklaces would be to obviously start short and simple. A choker or short-chained necklace is one that works extremely well when pairing with other necklaces. The next piece should be a longer piece which is funky, something that reflects your personality, maybe? And then make sure to end the layering with a nice long, dangling chain!

2. Colour-blocking

Think colour-block when you’re wearing something plain and monotone. Choose necklaces of similar colours to break the monotony. You can even wear a whole lot of pearl necklaces to add a classy element to your attire. Personalise it with a zodiac charm, initial pendant or even a small birthstone!

3. Decently delicate

If you want something elegant and dainty for everyday wear, layer necklaces that gradually increase in width. We would suggest starting with finer, shorter necklaces, easing into something more chunky. Choose pretty pendants such as a sleeping leaf or a branch, or even coins, to give you that boho chic vibe.

4. Minimalism shouldn’t be a task

It’s not a crime to layer necklaces with absolutely no pendants — minimalist is the way! Start with a delicate choker and then add different lengths of plain chains to it.

5. Mix it all up!

Don’t be too fussy about mixing colours — gold and silver may be of different families but they look pretty darn good together when layered well. There’s no hard and fast rule that doesn’t allow you to splash in various colours and styles together, right? So go crazy with this one.

6. And then leave it be…

The same with lengths, do not strategically place your necklaces — let the chips fall as they may! Trust me when I say that it looks way more elegant that way.

7. Pair various gemstones and pendants of different lengths together

Get all your stone pendants out and compile them in a lovely tiered necklace. Mix patterns and colours here as well and add a fun-factor to what you’re wearing. Once again you don’t have to stick to an even ratio of necklaces… just go with the vibe you want to give off.

8. Lengthen. Lengthen. Lengthen.

Nothing screams length more than a lariat necklace. The key is to pair shorter, delicate pieces at the top and then add that drop necklace to give yourself some length! This would be a great time to pull out those sleek chokers.

9. Chunky is most definitely funky

Chunky, statement necklaces pair amazingly well with other chunky pieces, so don’t hold back if bigger necklaces are your thing. You can totally enjoy layering with them.

10. Collar it up!

Talking about chunky, stacking collared necklaces directly on top of each other works really well. You’d be surprised as to how much glam it adds to a plain collared shirt.
