This Bucket Bag Is THE Arm Candy Simi’s Been Eyeing
If we had to collectively thank someone for giving the bucket bag “it” status, it’s got to be Mansur Gavriel. While my #UrbanPoor status has left me unable to save up for a Mansur Gavriel original, I’ll be honest it has been lurking on on my bucket list (oh, the irony!) for a while now.
Why? Because no matter how much I love my leather totes and sling bags, I must say I have a special space in my heart for a bucket bag. I own three, with my favourite being a faux snakeskin Mango version in black. It is sophisticated enough to carry to my 9-to-5 work day, and chic enough to add to my evening ensemble while I’m out with my girls. The bag is spacious enough to carry most of my day-to-day essentials, and it isn’t all that big either. One bag, so many functions. Perfect, no?
The 2016 bucket bag is a slightly updated version — it’s nowhere close to simple. Embroidered, studded, or sequined, with excess use of tassels, bows or fringes, or even in silhouettes that are asymmetrical, those are the kind of bags we’re digging this season. We saw models carrying them at Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Marni, Stella McCartney and other shows.
So I found this sleek bag at H&M that was totally love at first sight. Made out of grained imitation leather with a chic braided trim detailing, this one isn’t your too-huge-to-carry sort of bucket bag. It’s got chic gold hardware, which perfectly complements the blush hue. H&M is such a nominally priced brand, it really has become of my favourites when it comes to scouting fast fashion stuff. And this bag is more proof of that!
