#HauteHack: How To Remove Make-Up Stains From Clothes

Imagine this: You’re on your way to a party, and you’re been receiving frantic calls from friends because they’re aware you’re not going to make it on time (yet again). So between convincing them that you’re JUST about to leave the house (does anybody really believe that?) and working some magic on your face so you can look your gorgeous best, the most unfortunate thing happens. You accidentally smear some foundation onto the collar of your dress. Sigh!

Blame it on your clumsy hands or the extra hours at work that made you late, but the truth is that smeared make-up experiences tend to ruin not just your fabulous dress but your mood too. Sadly, we’re all to well-acquainted with situations like this. While you do have the option of changing into another dress, you really don’t want to ignite the ire of your waiting friends in the car downstairs! What’s more, it would be great if you knew how to expertly remove those make-up stains from your clothes immediately without ruining the outfit completely.

Make-up messes are reversible, unlike what you’ve been thinking all along. In case of smeared oil-free foundation on clothing, the answer lies right in your dad/boyfriend’s toiletry: the humble shaving cream. Yep, you read that right! It just takes a dollop of shaving cream to clear up that nasty stain on your make-up ruined collar.

Here’s what you need to do. Spray some shaving cream onto the dirty area and pre-treat it. This helps to break down the stain. Shaving cream is a clarifying product and is made up of alkalis like sodium and potassium hydroxide, both of which are strong cleaning agents. In case you still notice a slight stain, apply some rubbing alcohol to completely lift the stain. And voila! Back to wearing no-stain clothing.
