The Mint Flatforms Simi Will Add To Her Shoe Closet STAT!
Last week, my mother made an unplanned visit to Mumbai. Because when skinny, single me is unwell, the only one I want near me is Mom. Amidst doctor visits, making homemade food, taking out lots of time to advise, and trying to mentally prepare me for marriage, she also cleared up my shoe cabinet. Aha! Mission ‘Simi has excess shoes that MUST be thrown out!’ is a ritual at home, BTW.
Guilty as charged, I am a shoe hoarder. I buy shoes because I believe shoe love is true love. But as I’m getting old(er), I’ve come to realise that the only pairs one really needs are the comfortable, chic and classy ones. It is important to build a shoe closet in a systematic manner — start with everyday basics and work up to the unique pieces. Don’t just hoard mindlessly.
Anyhow, since mother darling has skillfully discarded some of my old pairs, I’m ready for some serious shoe shopping. This time, with much thought put into the process. And one of my initial buys post the spring clean is going to be this super cool pair of flatforms from indie label Gush.
The number one reason to buy them? They’re in mint! (Who can ever say no to anything in mint?) Also, these are in an IT shoe silhouette. Flatforms are so in vogue this season, they add to your height without making you uncomfortable. Not to mention that these are open-toed shoes; so summer-ready, no?
When you’re not buying platform sneakers or a chic pair of espadrilles, it has to be flatforms this season. Made out of faux leather, these Gush rubber-soled flatforms are all the pampering my feet need now. All I can say is: Thank you, mommy.
