This Dual-Print Shirt Makes Zahra’s Inner Gemini So Happy

If you’ve been following Hauterfly from the beginning, you’ll know that I’ve professed my love for Jodi before. Created by two former ELLE India stylists, this fun homegrown label does desi hip in the most non-clichéd way possible. Basically, there’s not a brightly coloured, kitschy motif in sight and it’s all still so inherently India chic.

So how do they do this? The secret to Karuna Laungani and Gauri Verma’s youthful aesthetic is mixing Indian prints with modern silhouettes, and the results are anything but basic. Using 100% natural textiles and traditional hand-blocking techniques with quirky prints, they’ve created a fun brand that’s uniquely relatable. What’s more, with prices on par with international high street brands, Jodi proves that homegrown labels are worthy wardrobe alternatives in a sea of same-ness you encounter on every shopping expedition both online as well as in stores.

Jodi Cornflower & Flintstone Shirt

Which brings me to my #HauteList item this week: an ultra-cute printed shirt from Jodi. The label is known for its fun use of print-on-print layering and cute motifs, and this shirt is no different. Mixing two prints from its new capsule collection — graphic flintstones and bold cornflowers, in refreshing hues of white, blue and red — this classic button-down gets a fun twist via half-and-half layers. Made of super soft twill, it also has pleated cuff detailings that you’ll really appreciate on closer inspection.

Wear it over an all-white ensemble of a tank top, denim skirt, and sneakers, or style it with your favourite distressed denims and block heels. It’s so versatile, I’d even wear it over a dress to add interest to my look. Maybe cinch it at the waist with a slim belt while I’m at it too.

Fashion forward, eclectic, and affordable — there’s so much to love about it! No?
